Grote Electric Solid Body Guitar Modern-GST For Beginners (Arctic White)

I maybe got lucky on this, but everything about deciding to buy this guitar has been fantastic. I realize that the Chinese and Indonesian guitars have QC issues at times, but I hit a grand slam with this purchase. First off, Amazon packed this so well that it arrived totally protected. There was an inner box around the guitar, and then this box was placed in a larger outer box with a tons of fluffed packing paper protecting the inner guitar box. This would have survived anything. But the outer box was not even dented, and the inner box was in perfect condition. Then, on opening the inner box, this guitar was perfect with no dents, scratches, or injury of any kind. The deep reddish wood grain body and tortoise pick guard are absolutely beautiful, and the roasted neck finishes it off with a look that is beyond fantastic. The total weight is light, and feels really great. After I did some minimal fret work (slight filing of some ends), and height adjustments, I couldn’t put this guitar down for 90 minutes. It not only looks awesome, it is a total joy to play. I’ve been around a while, and I played in the hay days of rock (1960s) in bars and clubs in the midwest USA. I believe that I have owned or played “all” the major guitar brands ever made, so I know what is out there. All I can say is that I love this guitar and I would have used this in my gigs with no hesitation “back in the day” if I had it then. The fact that this is available for under $300 is unbelievable.

Everything about this guitar is absolutely amazing, the action is low and beautiful no buzz, the strings could be better but are for sure reliable. The weight and overall build of this guitar is true perfection, the tuning isnt bad at all either. This is for sure a great guitar for its price and would definitely recommend this for either a starter or first guitar.

I bought this basically to record with and to have as a backup. I did not expect a whole lot for the price, but this guitar has much going for it! The finish is nice, no problems to mention, The weight is very nice, good for sessions and gigs when a guitar is lightweight. The frets are not sharp at all, and the neck, though it is kind of chunky, should not be a problem for those with small hands. The single coil pickups are okay, may replace them in the future, the bridge pickup is fine, esp. with the coil tap switch, can get a decent single coil sound out of it. The tuners, are mid at best. Some turn easily, some need much pressure to turn, and the feel is not consistent with them, but surprisingly, they hold tuning. Still, am going to replace them for sure. Minus one star for the tuning. Overall, this guitar is great for beginning guitarists, just replace the tuners with better quality ones, and you will have an instrument to grow with.

Great little guitar for a child. Toggle switch was a nice little feature. You could split the humbucker pick-up into a singl pickup. Price was also really good.

First off I normally play the 1st edition Jeff Beck strat because it has the biggest neck that Fender used . Full 1 inch depth . I have carpal tunnel , the more your thumb extends away from the palm the better. Narrow necks cause you to bring your thumb closer to the other fingers which closed the carpal tunnel. So when people were complaining the neck is too big I was like what ? Sign me up. The Mocha one didnt disappoint , full 1 inch depth just what I wanted. Lightweight , another thing I wanted. After a fret polish and change of strings (you really got to change strings the stock ones are crap) this thing is a great player of me at jam at home with . I wanted something really light to sit in an easy chair and practice. Ok so I thought I like this neck so much I need a backup in case Grote decides people dont want a big neck and I ordered another one in black . This one the neck was too big by about 3 mm across. If it was just 3mm too thick I would of just sanded it down but this is across the fretboard where you would have to change out the frets too. Returned it and got a black replacement , this 3rd one had holes in the neck which if they were underside the neck I wouldnt mind but they were right at the 5th fret staring me down. Returned it . I am trying with a 4th one in Blue , fingers crossed this one is like the Mocha one and has no defects. Still 5 stars if you get a good one. Oh the actions can be set super low , Im at 1.2 at the high E and 1.5 at Low E.

Guitar broke after a couple of uses on my experience dont get this one, after a couple of uses mine just started sounding distorted Not recommended

OK, I returned this item so why a 3 START review? The guitar as a whole is surprisingly good for the $85.50 I paid. It looks good, sounds good, but had one major issue. A crack in the body at the neck join. This is not solid wood; it is a composite. It looks to me the slurry of wood-product they made, dried, expanded, and cracked. Also, the tuners were horrible, BUT for a sub-$100 guitar that's expected. If you think you'll get top-notch hardware on an $85 guitar, think again. This would have been a good mod platform. The pickups sounded really good. The humbucker is splitable and it sounded good. The paint was an awesome color. It looked cool. It played well. It had a nice medium neck and a beautiful fretboard. The frets were well done. It would have been a FIVE STAR if not for the body crack. Too bad. It is certainly worth a shot if you want a cheap, but good guitar or a great mod platform.

Got the Noble Blue and the finish is flawless. Wasn't sure about the Paulownia wood body but it sounds great without the weight. Pickups (HSS) are fine for the price and sound good. The humbucker on/off switch is a welcome addition. The body is slightly smaller than a standard stratocaster but doesn't affect playability. Have always liked naked maple necks and this is no exception. Only criticism is the strings. Change the strings. Minor intonation adjustments. Don't let this one slide. Buy it now.
