Burg Falkenstein Model Kit

I am a first time builder with this model. It is CHALLENGING, to say the least. So far I have spent about 3 months of between 2 and 5 hours a day, five days a week, on it. Granted, I am very slow, but I am also happy with my purchase. I am very particular that this comes out right, after all, I am spending a LOT of time on it. Hurry and you will make a mess.The first thing you need to know is that all the instructions are pictorial, with a few words thrown in here and there in various languages, some of which is English. I recommend going over both the "General" instruction pictures until you learn the techniques involved. THEN, you go to the "Specific" sheet that pertains to your exact model kit. Study it, over and over, as you will see new things each and EVERY time you look at it, especially as you progress in your building of the model. Compare the two sheets. Learn as much as you can BEFORE you even THINK about sticking anything together. Believe it or not, I have studied each sheet enough over the last 3 months to say I have spent 10 or more HOURS looking at each page.I, personally, wanted to enhance the model. I wanted to add it to a mountain scene in and HO scale Model Railroading layout. To do this I raised it higher then the model specified and lengthened the base so that the modified bridge actually reached ground in front of my newly imagined horse riding field. This took a bit of doing, but was not hard.I found that certain tools were indispensable in this project, including a variety of steel files along with a file card for cleaning the files, a drill, and an X-Acto knife with several blades. Perhaps the most important tool was a substitute for the recommended sand-paper. I used, instead, a sheet of sanding material designed for sanding sheet-rock walls to smooth them out. It is an open mesh with 180 grit embedded in it. Don't know its name, but if you look in a hardware store in sheet-rock supplies you will find it. It is black, and an open mesh so that dust doesn't clog it, as happened with sand-paper. OH, and did I mention that this is DUSTY? Don't even think of doing any sanding or shaping inside your home as dust will go everywhere and your wife will hate you forever.I will be adding more as I go along and approach finishing the model.Did I say I am having fun? Well, I AM!

I bought this for my husband. He loved building it. It is a great kit. He spent about 200 hours completing the model. It takes a fair amount of skill to complete successfully.

Not just a normal Plastic HO building kit, you get to building this Stone Castle Brick by Brick. Hours and Hours of enjoyment and really get to use your imagination during building, weathering etc.100% Great Kit!

I have done several models of this type. They absolutely take some skill and time but the kits are super cool.

I am fairly new to these models, but so far I love them. They are a challenge for sure, but very relaxing at the same time. I would recommend them to anyone!

Should try to get many more copies of other castles.

For castles lovers, it is a wonderful item!The wooden structure is also reproduced, and the atmosphere of the castle at that time felt. It is fun to make it!

One should have done an easier one first. I love doing it, just into the early prepping and painting.

I bought this for an elderly relative who likes making models. He loved it, it kept him occupied when he couldn't get outside. These models are more difficult than the usual plastic type models as you have to use the clay bricks to build it and then make the landscape. They look really nice when finished. He enjoyed it so much he's now asked me to get him more!

Die Beschreibung des Zusammenbaus ist sehr kompliziert und ungenau .Bestimmte Bauelemente sind schlecht oder garnichterklärt.Auch ist aus dem Bauplan nicht alles ersichtlich.Da muß man gut selbst improvisieren können.Trotzdem macht es Spaß,zu sehen wie man vorankommt.Man muß sich halt genug Zeit nehmen,es ist ja schließlich ein Hobby.
