MOGOOD USB C to Dual USB C Female Adapter, 2 Ports, Not for Monitor and Charging, Incredibly Durable, Super Fit, 5V/0.9A Power Output

UPDATE 09-2023: I acquired another USB-C device (Insta360 Link camera), and I tested this splitter using that device. The camera works as expected with either female connector, so this is NOT a defective product. The fault lies elsewhere--my motherboard is >5 years old, so probably has a 1st-gen USB-C connector that is causing the problem. I've updated my rating to be fair to the seller. Disconnected my WD My Book Duo from the USB-C connector on my computer, and put this in its place. When I connected the external drive to this splitter, it is not visible to my Windows 10 machine. I tried both female connectors, and neither appears to work. Removed it and reconnected my external drive and it showed up again. Perhaps its defective. If I decide to expend the energy to replace it instead of refunding, I'll update this review with the new results.

So I bought these originally, before reading fully (my mistake) to have a way to still have USB C access while using a USB C display. I realized the description said they won’t work for that. Okay, cool I’ll keep them just in case it was my mistake after all. No big deal I thought. Nope these don’t even work at all. Just tried these on multiple devices to split power and data. Doesn’t even show it’s plugged in on my PC or handheld devices. Poor quality considering I’ve not used them once and they both don’t work. I’m not concerned about a refund or anything, but wanted to share my experience.

Great product

I don't use this for charging, I have better quality cables for that. This split connector has enabled me to connect two 256 GB mini flash drives to a single input on my Surface Go computer, thus expanding the memory I can have access to. I have Gen 1 of the Surface Go and have been pleased with it for general document review, emails and things of that sort-it won't do serious math analysis very quickly but will handle light weight Excel analysis. Surface computers are short on input ports (I think MS just wants to sell multi port adapters). This device works well for my needs. Whether it would be as useful if I had two 1TB drives plugged in is a different story.

I purchased this cable on July10th, 2023. It is October 5th, 2023. The splitter worked for about 3 months. I use it at work, in my car, on my Motor Edge phone and on my home computer. It does what it says, 1 USB type-c to 2 USB type-c data only. I make custom meditation scripts with music and other various audio mixes with Audacity and other Pro audio mixing software. I use this cable multiple times throughout the day. I have to play with the cable that goes into the single type-c plug and then it recognizes the USB flash drive. I also have my headphones that are USB type-c plugged into the splitter cable. No one else makes this. I would spend more money $$$ for a high quality cable. I recommend spending a little extra money to get the 3 pack ($10.99 [1 pack] versus $17.99 [3 pack]). This USB type-c splitter cable {data only splitter} (not for charging) makes life so much more easier. It is very convinient. I could not find it anywhere except Amazon. Still recommended to buy. Just wish it was better quality.

This cable can’t be used for charging or for a monitor, that was understood, but the description says “5V/0.9A Power Output” which means it should be able to power a portable SSD without issue. That is not the case. I tried this cable with two different drives, three different cables, and none worked. The SSD worked as expected when plugged directly into the Macbook. The cable did work with a powered external HDD, so it appears this cable doesn’t supply power as advertised. Note, I was only attempting to use one of the female ports at a time, neither side was successful.
