Beautiful! My First Real Sword
I love my new sword. The wait wasn't long but felt like forever, and well worth the time and money. It's a lot nicer than I expected, the one I received is nearly perfect, with just a tiny flaw here or there that aren't worth mention. This one caught my eye right away when searching for my first real, but low priced blade, and after reading all reviews, I was convinced it would be a good buy, and it totally was. It looks like some buyers ended up with a less than perfect unit, but it's the chance you take ordering a 50 dollar "battle ready" sword online. I have no problems with the way mine came, I was ready for a few flaws and ended up very pleased and not that surprised after reading the reviews. I'd expect more than likely, that if you buy this you will like it.Well crafted, sturdy, definitely worth more than 50 bucks. It really feels like a real sword, I felt a true surge of joy when I drew it for the first time after unpacking it. Mine was like half sharpened out of the box but that's not a major concern to me. Definitely will work well for learning the way of the sword and practicing, probably even truly battle ready. Even if it only lasts a few battles, that's still a better sword for the money than a real viking would have had access to in 900 AD, for the most part.5 star all around except craftsmanship, only because I know there are much nicer swords, it just is what is is.For the money, it looks very beautiful, at least to me.And again, 5 star for sturdiness (so far)

the pommel was crooked. but not bad for a sword under $100.
my sword came very quickly, I bought it for a Northman costume. the pommel was placed on there crooked, but its not really noticeable until you hold it. the scabbard is decent and the edge was very dull. obviously not a high end quality sword but a great sword for any cosplay or Halloween costume. the blade looks pretty good and it wasn't a bad choice for budget swords. I didn't receive a sticker, at least my came with no damage from the carrier.

Very nice
The media could not be loaded. Seems to be solidly built; very heavy, very sharp, scabbard is a solid design, looks like it would hold up to being carried around on your hip. The whole thing is packaged solidly and safely. Definitely a good conversation piece! Well worth the $$

Great sword at a good cost
I was looking for a cheap, but well-made sword. The reviews on this one seemed positive, so I gave it a shot. Let me just say, I was amazed when I opened the box. The sword came with a lot of oil and grease on it (to keep it from rusting during transport) and it was shipped outside of it's sheath but bubble-wrapped together. (WARNING when cutting the bubble wrap, edge of sword will be slightly sharp.) The weight of the blade was not what I was hoping for (hence the 4 stars) because it's a blade-heavy sword. Traditionally, the mark of a great sword is the ability to balance the flat edge of the blade on one finger about 1-2" from the crossguard. I might take it to a swordsmith and see what they can do....but the balance is ok. For me (with 7 years of fencing experience), I found the blade to be slightly too heavy for comfort. Overall weight of the sword is perfect, it's just not balanced correctly. Aside from this, it came moderately sharp. Not razor sharp, but by no means a dull edge or tip. The piece of leather on the crossguard that keeps it from scratching on the sheath wasn't glued on (or the oil made it come off) but that was a quick fix with superglue. While not pictured, it does come with a "button" on the sheath so you can mount it to a leather side carriage (the one with the hole punched in it). Reenactors know what I mean. It's super useful to mount it to leather and keep it from sliding around. Finally, I will say that the brass is amazing. This sword looks and feels real. Very good buy for the low cost. Similar swords on other websites go for $60-$120.

Wedding sword
Doing a sword exchange during ceremony and serves it's purpose. Being simple but elegant. Had no issues with scabbard or sword as others have and no shipping damage. Not going to be heavily used obviously. I don't expect it to hold up with choping at wood or in rinactment style battle. It is sharp and I'm satisfied with the craftsmanship of the blade. Scabbard isn't "the best" and obviously not where you're money is going so you pay for what you get :)

A sturdy sword with some flaws.
I received my sword today. There's a few mild and moderate blemishes. Let me start by pointing out that this blade comes with a completely blunted 90° edge. Well if you can call a flat surface an edge. I've included a picture to show this. There is one spot on the "edge," that looks like either a small chip or an inclusion. I can't tell if it took damage or if it was an error in the preparation of the steel. Picture is included. I'm guessing it's a chip though, since there's no other obvious steel issues in that area. The scabbard is cracked and peeling up on the receiving end. I included a picture of this as well. Now for the biggest flaw and the one I was most disappointed to discover. The blade has a visible bend. This was immediately noticable to me as I happen to own a ton of knives, and I see straightness in blades. The blade is bent at a very slight angle. I've included a picture of the bend as well. I'm pretty certain I can display it in a way that the bend is not noticable to most people. Now for the good aspects.Aside from the bend it is a nice looking piece, and will look great on my wall if I'm able to hide that bend. The handle, guard, and pommel feel pretty sturdy. The entire thing feels like it could be swung and maybe strike a hard surface without breaking or coming apart. The hadle is wrapped in what smells like real leather. The sheath does not smell like real leather however. The guard and pommel feel like they are solid brass. The tip cap and top wrap on the sheath however are a thin sheet brass. This sword will (assuming I can hide that bend) serve the purpose for which I bought it, a beautiful display piece for my wall. Combined with my bearded axe and the shield I'm making, it will look great.

Very pleased
I had mixed feelings about a $100 sword but I must say I am more than happy with it. I being a leather worker I put together a frog for it due to it not coming with a belt attachment, I'll also have to make a leather strip for the guard as it was missing but aside from that it was amazing for the price will deffinatly order from medieval depot again!

Perfectly imperfect.
So, this thing showed up in two days, 2 full weeks before it was supposed, and it is absolutely awesome, especially for the price. The fullers are a bit uneven, and it came duller than a spoon, the sheath fits a bit loose, but it overall looks pretty good, and it just feels sturdy. Awesome buy, I think i found a new gift idea for anyone that doesn’t already have a sword.

Decent for the price
Not a bad sword for the price. Pretty heavy, and surprisingly well put together. Only downside is the blade was bent out of shape all near the top in a few places and overall the sword is not weighted properly. But still, for the price it's pretty decent.

Was it used in a battle before selling it to us?
Received in 4 days via Fed-ex from the U.S., that's why we gave an extra star. The sword is big and heavy and it arrives drenched in oil and taped. The tape stuck on the brass of the scabbard left some stains. The scabbard is pretty beat up, the leather was fixed with putty and covered in shoe polish, the top brass part is slightly different than the picture, the bottom brass piece is visibly glued to the rest. The blade is dull, pretty straight, rough and unbalanced, fits good in the scabbard and has been put off center in the handle. It reads "India" on both sides of the blade. The handle doesn't look like like the one in the picture and it's badly matched with the pommel. It will require a lot of love to make it usable and possible to handle it without getting our hands stained and smelly. We don't want to send it back, we are afraid that the replacement could be worse. Still, for $100 is still a good buy considering the weight and the super fast shipping.
