It's the end of july and i want to give them to a friend in NC to plant. is it too late to put into the ground now?Wait to purchase/plant (& when?

I live in the Western part of North Carolina. I have been planting the Stargazer bulbs in the fall--September for blooms in July. However, I received my latest order of bulbs and they were sprouting so I have planted the bulbs in large containers. Sure hope I will get beautiful blooms in the summer. I would sent bulbs to your friend in September or October

They like shade or full sun

Mostly sun is best, but they can tolerate part shade.

Description says summer 2016. Are these bulbs 6 years old?

I don’t. The bulbs I received are Flourishing!

what is the planting for stargazer oriental lily

I believe the directions come with it. But to the best of my recollection, they can be planted in either fall (before a deep frost) or in the spring. I prefer Fall because they come up better the next summer. I believe they are planted about 4 - 6" down, and about 6 - 8" apart. My favorite flower.
