Charles Bentley American Large Portable Grill Charcoal BBQ 60x 45cm Cooking Area

This is a good bbq which cooks well. It is a challenge to build as the instructions at times are useless. After a fair bit of trial and error I managed to get the fuel tray fixed up. Some of the screw holes to fix the lid to the rest of the bbq do not line up. I haven’t found any way of getting the lid to close properly without either leaving a gap or sitting slightly offset to the rest of the bbq. It is a heavy bbq which appears to be reasonably sturdy.

I have just finished assembling this grill and I can safely say that the quality of the product is awful. The metal is flimsy and warped, nothing seems to fit together as it should and once fully assembled it feels very delicate. There was also a crucial part that which just had a hole missing...what are you supposed to do?! Knowing what I do now I would never purchase this again regardless of the price, I don't expect it to last one summer.

As with the only other review posted so far, the instructions are very poor, particularly Step 7 which covers the lever action of the charcoal pan which is arguably the most important.Having eventually competing the build it was very disappointing that the lid does not fit flush no matter what you do with the frame or hinges. It's my opinion the lid is warped.Having used the BBQ, the ability to raise and lower the charcoal is very handy and the temperature gauge shows a marked difference in the temperature when using it. However, when using the BBQ the warped lid becomes even more warped. As requested in the instructions I did "season" the interior steel per the instructions before using it.Purchased this in the sale for £100 so it's ok as a "cheap" BBQ but if I'd paid the full £150 I'd be mighty peeved!

Very good bbq. Solid and sturdy. We had some parts missing - some screws but luckily we had some of our own to use. Great value though.

Lack of bolts or parts not made correctly. Very flimsy

As other reviews have said, the item is badly packaged so you will receive a load of bent/scratched parts. In our case, one of the legs was sticking out of the package and got bent, plus the plasticky bits at the end were nowhere to be found. Assembly wasn't as difficult as some of the reviews make it seem, but it did take about 2 hours and there is one tricky bit where you're assembling the coal tray that the pictures do not help in the slightest, but it's clear if you look at the diagram a couple of pages later.The barbeque itself is OK and does the job. The active cooking area is much smaller than what they say in the description as the coal tray is a good 10 cm smaller in all dimensions but it's still big enough to feed 6 to 8 people.

lid did not fit well

Purchase a branded BBQ for a family get together & will end up buying a takeaway meal instead!!The quality of this product is shocking! It would probably last for 1 BBQ & fall to pieces!!!Charles Bentley Est.1860 selling shoddy Chinese imported scrap!!
