Excellent product. Great for protecting delicate skin. Non-adhesive.
I loved this foam in caregiving for my husband. I used it for padding on his skin. It is non-adhesive. His skin was very delicate and needed padding without more breakdown. This helps tremendously. Highly recommend it, especially for people who might have skin breakdown or pressure sores. It helped keep my honey together until he passed four months ago.

Excellent Antibacterial Dressing
It is important to research products prior to application to wounds. PHMB foam is intended for highly exudative wounds at risk for infection or critically colonized. Currently using for venous ulceration with heavy bioburden. Very happy with the results.

Read this before purchase.
This bandage has been excellent in terms of value and use, once you know what you're dealing with. Things to note before purchase: 1. When Amazon tells you that this is packaged in a box that tells you what it is and asks if you'd like it to be in an Amazon box instead, choose the Amazon box. Having it shipped without that option means that the unsecured box of bandages gets a sticker slapped on it and put in the mail as is. No tape keeping the box closed and no protection from destruction or other damage of your sterile bandages. 2. This is a cuttable and adhesive silver alginate dressing. However, the film covering the adhesive side does not have any edge to grasp it by, and it is quite firmly attached. I discovered that it is much easier to release the film from the dressing if you lightly rub the film with a rubbing alcohol-moistened cotton ball. This allows that film to come up a bit and be peeled off to expose the adhesive without ruining the dressing. Also, if you wish to remove the dressing before it's used up, you can moisten the edge of the dressing where it is attached to the skin with water or rubbing alcohol and gently remove it without tugging on your healing skin. All in all, it has done what I've needed but I wish that the use instructions for it had been better to keep me from having to struggle to find a way to use this as advertised before discovering the rubbing alcohol trick.

Has NO Adhesive Whatsoever
If you're looking for something like this that has adhesive on the back I would keep looking. The instructions even clearly say that a secondary dressing is required to hold this dressing on. That's unfortunate too because these foam wound dressings are quite nice. I can't really use a secondary dressing over something like this because in the past I have fallen asleep with such a dressing and no matter what I've tried using to hold something like this over my wound, always winds up damaging my wound even further. What has always worked the best is a foam dressing called, "Mepilex," that can be stuck straight onto the wound thanks to it's, "Safetac," technology. Yes, believe it or not such a thing exists, and even though it can be stuck straight onto the wound it comes off incredibly easy without damaging the wound. At least, that's been the case for me. I was excited to see this wound dressing though because the Mepilex wound dressings can cost up to and over $60 for just 5 of them. Anyway, getting these wasn't a total loss. It has led to me finding something else that should be just like the Mepilex at less than half of the cost. For anyone else who might be interested to know that, the other wound dressing like this that I've found is called, "MedVance TM Silicone - Silicone Adhesive Foam Absorbent Dressing." And it costs $24.99 for a box of 5 of them just like these.

This dressing works great to help relieve wound pain!!
I've been trying to get on top of leg ulcer sores I've had for 2 months now.. 1 emergency room visit, 4 doctor visits & $5,000 later... not one medical person suggested the need to ALSO FOCUS ON HEALING THE SORE ITSELF! I've been exudating maybe 2 cups or more of serum daily from my 3 sores (yellowish to clear liquid) that cover 20 square inches total from all 3 sores. Walking around the house with a rolled towel taped around my bare angle and changing it every couple hours... I never realized until now how terrible and painful leg ulcers can be. I got Algicate+ Gelling Calcium Alginate and also the Silver Calcium Alginate dressing versions to alternate directly on the sores. They develop a thick gel to seal, protect & heal, addiing a thin coat of MediHoney on the dressing, then add this 6x6 MedVance TM Foam dressing over the top of the healing wound cover. The combination completely stopped all fluid weeping from the dressings and after 3 days the outer gauze wrap was still dry & white! WOW what a difference!! This pad also adds some extra cusioning to the wounds and I finally realized most of the pain from these sores is when the raw outer surface of the skin gets aggravated by anything rough (even smooth cotton gauze wrap is almost like sharp steel wire when it is put right on an open flesh sore)... it took me weeks to realize that removing the dressings usually relieved the sore pain within 15 minutes. HIGH Absorbency and being a large 6x6 cushioning pad directly over sores or open wounds is why I really love these pads and am now going to buy more for my medical stock. You can cut this foam into smaller pieces; I put the white side toward the other dressing and the yellow part facing outbward, since it looks like the yellow part is a seal to prevent moisture from leaking past it. Great product that has helped to greatly relieve my pain and increase comfort for heavily exudating leg sores!
