Wish I had bought this years ago
Purchased this to dig trenches for landscape irrigation. Turned a back breaking 5 day job with pickaxes into a six hour job.. This demo hammer doesn’t come with any bits, so I purchased spade for digging, bull nose and 2” chisel for concrete, and a scraper. I like that it uses SDS-Max bits.“Ok” for small, light concrete demo. Or if it’s a tight space. But definitely not powerful enough for thick reinforced concrete or large jobs. I tried this on a reinforced 10” thick, felt like 5000 psi, concrete pad and it took 45 minutes to make half a dozen small holes. But small equipment pads or light concrete is no problem, also works well in tight spaces. Needed to removed some excess foundation that had leaked out of forms in order to run irrigation lines. Tight space, and it worked great for that.Super handy for trenching and digging holes for trees and such. Even used to chop up roots, some roots 3”-4” in diameter, and this cut through them no problem.Overall, very handy tool that will save your back and make quick work of certain jobs. Just know it has its limits.Don’t forget to keep it greased, Makita - A90582 MAKITA HAMMER GREASE, A-90582 works perfectly.

Always check the brushes
I purchased this unit from Harbor Freight and didn't get the extended warranty. Shame on me. Whenever you buy from Harbor freight, get the warranty!!!I had a small project in my garage and this unit worked well for chipping the top of the concrete i.e. roughing it up for us to pour over the existing concrete. It works well with mortar and sandy-type concrete, but don't think this unit is going through anything more than 2" concrete unless you have all of the time in the world. Borrowed a friend's larger electric jackhammer and made my Bauer unit seem useless. This electric hammer doesn’t come with any bits, so I purchased a set from Harbor Freight don't forget the grease!!! There is grease in the carry case, but you will need more. This unit demands to be greased religiously. As I said: Not powerful enough for thick reinforced concrete or large jobs. But light concrete is no problem, also works well in tight spaces. To end my review. I only had this unit for 4 weeks, used it on average for 1-2 hours a day for 3 weeks and it's shot. I kept it greased. The motor just stopped. I thought it was a thermal overload in the motor so I let it sit and cool, would not run. Tore into the unit, and cleaned everything and the motor is sparking and providing burnt electrical smells. May try to fix it on my own, but getting parts doesn't look to be easy.I tore into this unit a 2nd time and found the brushes didn’t look right and did not spring against the rotor like it should. Bauer provides a second set of brushes in the kit that I purchased. Got the old ones out, but the new ones in with a little grease just to make sure that they slide correctly. Problem fixed and it runs great! If I did not have the extra set of brushes for the motor, I may have thrown the whole thing out.
