Triple bill containing the entire time-travelling series of sci-fi comedy films. In 'Back to the Future' (1985), Teenager Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) just wants to play electric guitar and date girlfriend Jennifer; he is also determined not to end up a loser in life like his own parents. Father George (Crispin Glover) is a weak-willed failure, bullied at work by his former high school tormentor Biff Tannen (Thomas F. Wilson), while mother Lorraine (Lea Thompson) is an alcoholic. Marty's friend and mentor is the eccentric Doctor Emmet Brown (Christopher Lloyd), who has successfully invented his own time machine in the form of a plutonium-powered Delorean sports car. However, after Marty travels thirty years back in time, he discovers that he doesn't have enough fuel to return to 1985. And, after he accidentally prevents the first ever meeting between his own, teenage parents, Marty's own future birth and present existence are placed in jeopardy! In 'Back to the Future Part 2' (1989), accompanied by Doc Brown (Lloyd), Marty McFly (Fox) must travel thirty years into the future to save his own children from going to jail. Meanwhile, the aged Biff Tannen (Wilson) steals the Delorean time machine to return to the Fifties and make his younger self rich, creating an alternative 1985 timeline in which Marty's father, George, has been murdered. Whilst 'Back to the Future Part 3' (1990) sees Marty (Fox) go back in time to the Wild West of 1885 to rescue his friend Doc Brown (Lloyd), who he has discovered is due for a fatal showdown with one of bad guy Biff's nasty ancestors. Meanwhile, the good Doc has fallen in love with a newly arrived schoolteacher (Mary Steenburgen).

The Back To The Future Trilogy
I've always loved these films and I always will. Back to the Future was released in 1985, and in 1989 a sequal was made. Then a year later the third and final one was released. The "Back to the Future" films stars Michael J Fox as the 17 year old teenager Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as the scientist Dr Emmet Brown (always refered to as Doc). It also features Thomas F Wilson mainly as the bully Biff Tannen and Lea Thompson as Marty's mother Lorraine.I feel that Robert Zemekis did a terrific job with these films and I don't feel that he could of done much better. The only thing that ruined it was the fact that the actress who played Marty's girlfriend Jennifer was replaced by a different one. Then again using the same actor isn't always possible, especialy after a four year gap between the first two films. I think that the idea of a time machine being a car is good also. The "Back to the Future" films is set in a town called Hill Valley and there are certain places (I.E: the town square and the cafe), in that town that are shown in different time periods. For instance in 1985, there's a big car park in front of the clock tower (I think it was a car park. I need to watch it again), but in 2015, it's a pond. The box set contains 4 discs; the three films and a bonus disc, with good features, including deleted scenes. There's one extended scene amongst them that corrects an error I spotted. That scene is the "Darth Vader" scene. In the film, during that scene you'll see a hair dryer tucked into Marty's belt. The next shot it's missing, but it's back the following shot. There was also one other mistake I noticed. In the third film Doc learns that he will eventually get trapped in 1885 and get shot. Marty travels to that year, where he is reunited with Doc. Yet for some reason he is unaware of his fate, dispite his past self learning this. Maybe it's some kind of time paradox where he never experienced that incident, although his past self did. Confusing. Best leave that theory to Stephen Hawking or someone.Anyway the "Back to the Future" trilogy are great films I'd recommend to anyone, especially those who love sci-fi or time travel films. Here's what they're about...Back to the Future Part IAttempting to escape a couple of teorrists, Marty accidentally travels to the year 1955, where he finds that without plutonium, he is trapped there, unless he finds the only substitute; a lightning bolt. Luckily he is a week behind an event where a lightning bolt strikes the clock tower. Doc forms a plan to get the lightning bolt into the flux copasitor (a device within the time machine that makes time travel possible), so Marty can return to 1985, a one in a million chance of succession. Marty meanwhile works on getting his mum and dad together, as he (unintentionally) has endangered his own existence.Back to the Future Part IIDoc takes Marty to the year 2015, to save Marty's son from jail. Having returned to 1985, they find the reality they know has completely changed into a hellish world, caused by Biff tampering with time and changing his future. Now Doc and Marty must return to 1955, to restore 1985 back to as they remember it.Back to the Future Part IIIMarty travels to the westerns of 1885 to save Doc from an untimely death and bring him home to 1985. However, Marty (having got there) has lost petrol and without petrol chances of returning to 1985 are little. Doc forms a plan to push the DeLorean up to 88 miles an hour (the speed required to time travel), so they can return to 1985. Doc in the meantime falls in love with a teacher Clara Clayton. Marty learns that Doc's fate could be his own instead, brought on by his determination to prove he isn't chicken (or in the westerns, prove he isn't yellow).

You need a review for this set of 30+ year old films? If you know it, then you love it. If you don't know it, then how the hell is that possible?

Going Back In Time
I'm a huge fan of the Back to the Future series and a recent owner of an HD TV. So, when the opportunity to get these films in Blu-Ray format arose I jumped on it. Not only that, the extras and gifts in the collectors tin are just marvellous.Focussing first on the packaging, it's professionally presented, the items are lovingly created and the information is nostalgic and actually very interesting to see. I especially like the sports almanac and the license plate from the Delorean. The films are as expected, great, but also well remastered. There has been a lot of debate over the quality of the films and whether they have done a good enough job. Personally I found everything to be very crisp and an absolute joy to view. I couldn't complain, in fact the quality is so good that you can see the make up effects on the actors where they have made them look older. Each wrinkle and crease in the face masks is clearly present, this doesn't distract from the movie at all, but really shows the detail achieved in the visuals. The sound track is clear and obviously has had attention on it on top of the improved visuals. The pumping 80s soundtrack and booming special effects really shine through.Extras are the same as the DVD version with a few more special features. This is certainly no bad thing though as the original extras are very complete and interesting if you enjoy that side of things.Basically, for me, it's a very accomplished set. The movies are great, the quality is just fantastic both visually and aurally and the extras are actually worthwhile and not random booklets which don't add value.A must buy for any BTTF fan, and, highly recommended for those who have never seen the films. They have survived the test of time because they are very specifically set in particular eras. Due to this they never age, because they are representing the time frame perfectly. This makes the experience even better because they are as good as you remember.

Back to the future trilogy
The first instalment of Back to the future was the sole reason I watched the trilogy. It was the most awesome out of the three.

A classic trilogy
Back to the Future follows the adventures of high school kid Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and his friend, the eccentric scientist Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd), as they travel through time in their famous DeLorean. The film is set in the fictional California town of Hill Valley and across the trilogy we get to see four different time periods - 1885, 1955, 1985 and 2015.All 3 films are absolutely brilliant and are fantastically entertaining, with a fast-paced plotline, witty scriptwriting, top-class acting and plenty of action sequences. The time travelling element is great, and is essential to the plot without becoming overly complicated. There is so much going on, with visual gags, sub-plots, and different references to previous (or future) events that you'll find that on the second or even the third watch you pick up things you missed the first time around. The DVDs contain hours of extras including an excellent making-of documentary, and you definitely get your money's worth in terms of content.A must-own trilogy for any movie fan, highly recommended.
