Wow - Big difference versus old router!
I had an old DLink router that finally became insufficient for my home needs so I started doing some research about good routers that would come at reasonable price since technology advances so much. This wireless router came on top of some reviews out on the internet (CNet + PC Mag amongst others) and what caught my eye was the load of features it had for the price. Now I have to say - though I'm an experienced IT person myself, most of the key features an average person setting up a WiFi capability at home will need or use, are literally a button away.1) Set up is a breeze, this comes pre-encrypted so you don't need to set up a password, if you want to use the unique one it came with, you can.2) It has 2 bands, think of it as Hi and Lo speed networks, so you can actually control what devices connect where - depending on your streaming or networking needs3) It has a "guest" account built in, so no more sharing your precious WiFi password with all your teenage relatives or friends. You can set one guest account for them to share, like what they do at malls, cafe's or hotels, and manage just 1 account and re-set it anytime you want - without affecting all your personal accounts or password - a feature simple to use and much appreciated.4) Management console / interface is simple - Green - Red colors for items that you need to see (network status, account issues, etc.) Simple, intuitive.5) Enabling or customizing features are as simples answering simple Yes/No questions. There's an on-off switch for any single item you want to enable, to expand it's functions - all advanced items are disabled by default - which gives you the higher level of security for an average home user.6) if you're a more advanced IT person or you know your networking concepts you can configure DMZ zones, split networks, manage accounts/permissions, prevent guest access to home LAN, etc.7) It has scheduling features that are not hard to set, in order to restrict traffic and even set schedules - no more YouTube after 9 PM... or no more Netflix, or whatever you chose!Overall I'm very happy I got it at the price range. - are there any better routers? of course, but those would cost twice as much - for me, this one did the trick - and like PC Mag pointed out - this thing just flies over WiFi. My measured speed increase was in excess of 25% just by using the 5MHz band - and I hadn't even configured anything! In case you wondered about the load this thing handles, I have about 10 mobile devices (tablet or cell phones), 3 smart TVs (with video streaming services in each), 4 PC/Laptops, 1 Wireless Printer, Alarm System / Monitoring and 2 gaming consoles ... not to mention the devices my "guests" use when we have friends or family at home! All of which consume network bandwidth - this thing hasn't faltered.

definitely a power user's/geek's router
First, let me start this off by saying you will see a lot of mixed reviews on this router because the firmware is very complex for an average consumer style router. However, it is for this same reason that power users and geeks alike will LOVE it. It flashes with DD-WRT, as well, if you want even more features than what comes stock on it.For the current price, ESPECIALLY refurbed, this router is a total steal. The physical design of the router itself leaves a little to be desired. The plastic feels very cheap, and there are no "feet" to help keep the router standing up, nor are there any kind of weights. However, hopefully, you are not buying it for its looks! The control panel is very clean cut and straight to the point. When you first connect the router and go to the gateway IP, after entering in the admin login info you are presented with an internet connection wizard. This is very brief, and just guides you through setting up your internet connection. As far as I can tell, most of the router's defaults are pretty secure, as well. Of course, there is plenty of space to tweak things to your heart's delight, as well. Some features this router includes are:wireless access point/signal booster modestateful packet inspectionvirtual serversvlanssystem loggingQoSmultiple ssids for each access pointWhile the interface is definitely advanced, it's not so advanced that the average user could not figure it out (like dd-wrt is lol). So basically, this router is a great idea for anyone looking for a more advanced interface that isn't ready to take the plunge into DD-WRT yet.Even with the default firmware, this router is a lot snappier than my old Netgear ac1200. DD-WRT makes it even faster, though. It is DD-WRT that REALLY unlocks the magic of this router.Sadly, the version of DD-WRT available for this router does not include OpenVPN client configuration, but it does include PPTP. It also does not support the USB file sharing port, or the third guest wifi network. However, as far as I can tell, the rest of its features are fully there. The developer reports that he needs one of these routers donated to him so he can add all those features in, so... there's that.Overall, this is a great router, whether you use the OEM firmware or DD-WRT. It just depends which features you want the most. Personally, I bought this refurbed as a toy, and since I can't put the OEM firmware back on it after flashing to DD-WRT, I bought a second one. First time I've ever bought two of a single router just because I liked it that much both with the OEM firmware AND with DD-WRT, so that speaks volumes about it.

No complaints at all
Replaced a rather old eou5wr and was surprised at the speed increase. Very satisfied with the purchase.

Among the worst for customer support
I work in the tech industry. I understand things break, software gets corrupted or scrambled, the Gods of Bits and Bytes occasionally smite you.

One star off for set up instructions
Unit seems to be working well although I am surprised that the signal strength indicator shows fewer bars than the old linksys I replaced.

The unit itself functions fine.
I purchased this router in May 2018 and Trendnet is not updating the software on the model V1.OR . The Version 2.XR is being updated .

worked fine while it worked.
I purchased this as a factory refurb from through Amazon. It worked fine for about two weeks, and then would only run for a few hours at a time before resetting itself to the...
