Excellent.
I recently purchased a 1kg bag of Sical Classico coffee beans, and I am thoroughly impressed with the quality and taste, especially when used with my bean-to-cup coffee machine. The low acidity of these beans allows the flavors to truly shine through, resulting in a smooth and delightful coffee experience.I appreciate the convenience and freshness that my bean-to-cup machine provides. The Sical Classico coffee beans are a perfect match for this brewing method. The machine grinds the beans to perfection, ensuring a consistent and optimal extraction. The intensity of flavor in these beans is remarkable, and it translates exceptionally well when brewed in a bean-to-cup machine. The dark roast brings out rich notes of caramel and chocolate, creating a robust and satisfying cup of coffee. It's exactly what I look for in a coffee that delivers a strong, yet balanced, flavor profile.

Slow Roasted
The bag of coffee had a date that said “P: 03/2020” and another that said “E: 03/2021” which I guess might refer to when it was packed (hopefully soon ater roasting) and the End or best-before date. I received the coffee on 16th June so it was possibly twelve to sixteen weeks old depending on when in March it was packed, but, having said that the one kilo bag of beans was vacuum packed which should be a plus. For futher reference I ground the coffee with an “Hario MMCS-2B Skerton Pro Coffee Grinder” manual grinder on the second finest setting and brewed espresso with the ground beans in a “De'Longhi, Dedica Espresso Machine”.I found this to be good coffee, though I had hoped for something better. I was aware that it is supposidly roasted in a slower (Portuguese) way than many other beans are roasted. I'd say that it is an intense, smooth, pleasant tasting coffee. I didn't find it too intense, but these things are always subjective, but there's certainly plenty enough flavour that lingers long after I've had a couple of glasses of it. I also got a reasonable crema from it.Tasting notes on the packet are as follows:Aroma 7 out of 10Acidez: 6 out of 10Corpo: 8 out of 10Intensidade: 9 out of 10Sical was established in 1947 (though it was acquired by Nestlé in 1987) so they should know what they are doing. It says on the bag of Classico beans (Google Translated to) “Classical and its relationship with the Portuguese. A balanced combination of body flavor and aroma. Perfect to please different palates”.As to whether I'd buy it again – I would, but at £17.50 that I paid for it I might opt for a more economical coffee that I've bought before.

Perfect Portuguese coffee!
Portuguese coffee is the best in the world as far as I am concerned and this really lived up to my expectations, utterly delicious, mellow, rich and no bitterness at all. Yummy!

Mass produced nestle product Total disappointment
Boy was I disappointed with this coffee. It’s almost like I got a bad batch. All I get from it is a lingering chemical taste. I’d say it tastes more of a chicory than coffee! Like really budget instant coffee that got made too strong.I’m so sorry I tried something new.I get through at least 8 cups of coffee a day - all bean to cup and tend to drink espressos most of the time.Perhaps if you like adding sugar or milk to your cuppa, you can make this palatable, but steer well clear if you like an espressoNote - this is not a small manufacturer / artisan coffee - labels on the back tell you it’s a Nestle product (which I guess explains why my bag’s manufacture date was over 5 months ago!)
