The Pink Years Albums: 1970-1973

Great box set, featuring there earliest and best years, in my opinion, just a shame, there are no booklets, with the set, but you do get a poster.

I've been listening to these albums since I was a kid, on vinyl to start with when my brother gave me the Atem and Alpha Centauri double album, I have to say that the quality of these remastered albums is simply great, if you like these early albums I highly recommend you buy this box set. Not much point in my writing a review of the actual music, there's plenty of that if you look around the net, as well as the fact you can listen to all of this material on Youtube, before you commit to buying these higher quality recordings on CD. Oh, and please ignore the bad ratings on this box set, the usual fools, and that one star guy !, who doesn't understand anything about this music, and obviously any electronic ambient music, so funny, it's worth reading.

TGs early albums are very Floyd like, swirly organs and atmospheric long tracks. The first album is only 36 minutes long, so I think this set is overpriced, especially as the two Virgin box sets are less than £10. The music is a lot more basic than later TG stuff, consisting or flutey, long improv type music and ambient soundscapes. Good stuff but way over priced, greedy Esoteric

Fantastic early album collection in one box set all original covers & sleeve notes a must for every TD fan.

Les premiers albums de TD. Un véritable séisme, à l'époque, pour les amateurs de pré-ambient habitués à Pink Floyd ou Hawkwind. Ultra difficile à trouver en province. Il fallait aller à Music Action, à Paris, pour les acheter. Ou à Toulouse. Je dirais même : les seuls bons albums de Tangerine Dream. Après, c'est lentement de venu de la musique de supermarché. Rubycon, Phaedra et Ricochet sont encore, à la limite, écoutable, mais le foutage de gueule technologique avait commencé (des compositions ridiculement courtes vu le prix des 33T à l'époque).

最初期のTD。現代音楽を電子楽器で解釈。クラウト ロックは人脈が入り乱れ、専門書読んでも覚えきれません。TDも今ではメンバーも音楽性も変わりましたが、現在のメンバーで70年代の曲もやっましたね。山根星子氏も良く曲は 覚えられた、プロの仕事ですね～。

La época que precede a los famosos Virgin years. The pink years (desconozco porque se titulan así, más allá de la portada de Electronic meditation) que incluye sus primeros álbumes por un precio muy bajo.

I bought it when it suddenly dropped to a promotional price making it a very good deal if you want to own also some less popular and early TD albums like 'Electronic Meditation' and 'Alpha Centauri'. People just starting out listening to TD should be aware this period still involves a mixture of acoustics and electronics, so if you're looking for pure analog sequencing or the more commonly known TD albums browse for a later period boxset. Although remastered, the recordings show their age in the sound quality department. At normal retail price a bit too expensive since this boxset involves no interesting extra but put it on your wish list and wait for a price drop.

Fantastic package of early Tangerine Dream albums all with miniature replica sleeves including gate folds. Top notch.
