Mopar55075480AC Jeep Wrangler Hood Prop Rod Clip

I bought this while at work and couldn't go look at which clip my '99 Jeep TJ had, so I went by the year it's listed for. As it turns out, mine uses the plastic clip that fits in the square hole instead of this one that goes in the round hole. Return shipping is too high to justify sending it back so I guess I'll have another random part in the 4th drawer from the top of my toolbox. Make sure you know which one you have before buying, especially if it's in the 1999-2000 range when Jeep seemed to be using whatever parts they had on the shelf that day.

Worked great on my 1997 TJ after the stock price broke. Took seconds to install since it just snaps in without hardware. No more fighting the hood prop!

This thing clicks onto the hood, and holds the prop rod to the hood as you open it. Since Jeep is weird and the prop rod is part of the hood and not the engine bay, when this thing breaks or rusts to smithereens, you can't open the hood in a dignified way since the prop rod will invariably scrape against the top of the radiator cross member as you open it. A few bucks for this part, snap it in, and the rod is held secure. It also keeps it from rattling around which is a plus on a vehicle full of rattling things.

This clip listed as the proper part for my year TJ did not fit any where. Original style clip made of broken plastic was available but listed for other year (JK) jeeps and also were reviewed as being very fragile and immediately broke when used. Ended up using 3M double sticky tape holding on a strong magnet. Worked great.
