Burying Water

she feels more comfortable with herself
When she wakes up in a hospital bed, the girl that was beaten, raped and left for dead has no idea who she is, what she's doing here, and what happened to her - although the scars on her body and a mysterious tattoo in a hidden place beg for answers. With no relatives to call and no idea who to turn to, she has no idea what will happen with her when she's finally being released from the hospital. But thankfully, her doctor (who's also married to sheriff Welles, who is overlooking her case) knows just the place for her to stay: a grumpy old lady by the name of Ginny Fitzgerald, who lives next to the sheriff's property, agreed to take her on.Months go by, and there is no hope for her to re-gain her memory, so she slowly but surely rebuilds her life around Ginny and the Welleses. And while she can't stand people calling her Jane Doe, she chooses to go by the name Water. Everyday, she feels more comfortable with herself, and feels a growing sense of belonging. However, this sense of belonging is never as intense as when she is around the Welleses' son Jesse...Jesse Welles is actually well aware of who Water is, and who she was before she lost her memory. But given the circumstances, he'd rather she never finds out what she left behind, even if it means that he has to stay away from her. Except he can't, and the truth slowly but surely makes its way to the surface...What I loved about this book:Incredible storyline: refreshingly out of the ordinaryIncredible charactersThe story is overflowing with depth and feelingsWhat I felt needed improvement:Nothing at all - it was perfectI read the four first books of the Ten Tiny Breaths series, and loved every bit of it. K.A. Tucker certainly has a talent for creating unusual storylines with more unsual - and sometimes dark - characters with a twist. Burying Water was, however, a completely different genre: darker, and definitely more unexpected. Burying Water is not your regular romance novel - it's more of a drama/suspense novel and it makes it extremely special. The whole story was complex and the plot itself was full of twists. And again, I loved every word of this book. "If you wait long enough, the truth always find its way, just like water."The first lines of the book are not necessarily very comfortable and feel very much like a thriller/crime novel, but after a few pages, I was definitely hooked. The wiriting was absolutely fabulous, and kept the reader on his/her toes at all times. We get to experience everything first hand through a first-person POV, which alternates between Water and Jesse, except that the reader gets to be in Water's mind post-accident and gets to experience her dealing with memory loss, and what we hear of Jesse is in the past only. This means that there is a constant back and forth between past and present, and this back and forht will slowly put the pieces of the puzzle together. Who was Water before she woke up in the hospital bed? What's her connection to Jesse? Who did this to her? What does her tattoo mean? You'll find answers to all these questions but they will come in their own time. needless to say that this book was an actual rollercoaster ride, and I enjoyed every second of it. "Maybe the truth is that we were meant to find each other. A simple truth that would have kept finding its way to us, no matter which path I tried to turn down."On top of being extremely suspenseful, Burying Water also really tugs on your heartstrings. Throughout the book, I ached for Water's predicament (for what happened to her and the fact that she lost her memory, leaving her with absolutely no-one to turn to), for Jesse, since he's fighting hard against his own commitment to stay away from Water for her own good, but also for the pther characters in the story, such as the grumpy but kind-hearted neighbor Ginny Fitzgerald. Burying Water definitely made me cry several times, and it's always a powerful thing when a book can elicit such emotions within the reader.Burying Water is deep on so many levels, and it is difficult not to feel connected with the characters in some way. I felt really bad for Water - what happened to her was very physical and left hige marks on her body. She was definitely a shattered marked heroine, and so very different since she was completely disfigured. But exactly that made her a great heroine. Although she's broken, she is kind, smart, and good-hearted. She is a perfect match for Jesse, who is just as loveable and also just as broken because he can't help feeling guilty about putting Water in this predicament in the first place. "I am lost and somehow found. I am afraid and yet somehow comforted. I am drifting and yet somehow….home."Finally, I'd like to say that some scenes in this book were quite harsh and intense, and it therefore definitely isn't for the faint-hearted. Still, I found it a great read - a brilliant masterpiece even - which holds just as much power as books by Colleen Hoover or Amy Harmon.I will definitely make sure to check out Becoming Rain , which is the next book in the series, although I am not quite sure it could top Burying Water .

BURYING WATER REVIEW: K.A. TUCKER MY NEW FAVORITE AUTHOR
From my bookblog: www.bookishhipster.blogspot.comA wonderful friend I made on Instagram @cecereads actually sent me my next read, Burying Water by K.A. Tucker. You should definitely go check out her lovely bookstagram account over on Instagram and give her a follow! Burying Water has become one of my favorite reads for 2015! This is the first book in a series of new adult romantic suspense novels by K.A. Tucker. My Thoughts:***** FIVE STARS *****Oh my god. This book is just wow. Like holy freaking wow! This is the first book by K.A. Tucker that I have had the pleasure of reading and it was sooooo freaking good guys! It was romantic, suspenseful and literally had me flipping through the pages quickly. It's a very intense book to read, but I loved every second of it!It's been about three weeks since I finished this book and it's honestly taken me this long to write my review because I feel like I don't have the ability to write a review that would even begin to express how much I loved it! K.A. Tucker didn't write your typical love story in Burying Water, she went above and beyond. She wrote about real life and real love and the lengths you'll go too to protect the ones that you love and the sacrifices that you have to make to do so.Burying Water follows the story of Jesse Welles; a twenty four year old gear head with a golden heart and Alexandria Petrov; a twenty six year old young woman trying to escape the life she's found herself lost in with her abusive Russian mobster husband. Their lives come crashing together after Jesse's small act of kindness on a deserted road one stormy night. From the very first page this book had me hooked. I'm one of those people that if the writing style and I don't click I usually don't finish a book. So I was happy when I opened the book up to the first chapter and clicked with the writing. Tucker's writing style is very believable and very unique! I loved this book with all of my heart and soul. I cried and yelled and never wanted this story to end! The writing was spectacular and the story was gut wrenching, but so beautifully written.K.A. Tucker makes you fall in love with her characters in the way that she writes for them. That's exactly what I did too. I fell hard for Jesse Welles! Seriously, he's mine! ;) Okay, fine! He's Alex's! When can share, right?Jesse has a way of capturing your heart from the very first page. He's just this really relatable kind of character that's totally swoon worthy. Even though Jesse has had a troubled past you can tell that he's still a genuine person who wants nothing more than to do good and stay out of trouble. Normally when I'm reading a book I intend to like the female leads and I did love Alex, but I found myself for the first time in awhile loving the male lead as well! So kudos to Tucker for writing a believable male lead that I now want to marry. #fictionalboysarebetterWe first meet Alex in the hospital. She's been beaten, raped, and left for dead. But she has no memory of it. She has no memory of anything; including who she is. I'm kind of glad she didn't remember any of it though as far as the attack. I instantly felt for Alex, I mean how could you not! It was heartbreaking to feel her loneliness and her frustration of not knowing her own identity! But what I liked most about her was her strength. I mean it took a hell a woman to overcome everything she's been put through. Like Jesse says in the book, "He was given an angel and he tried to break her wings. But shes’s strong. Resilient."This is probably one of my worst written reviews and I apologize tremendously. I may go back and rewrite this review another day because this book deserves a well written review. Seriously though, I highly recommend this book!! You won't be disappointed. You'll find yourself rooting for Jesse and Alex all the way to the very end! I wish this book was being made into a movie because it would be one hell of a story on the big screen!

K.A. Tucker is a new author to me and after reading the blurb I wasn't sure what to expect. This intrigued me from page one and was a gripping storyline. I loved the character's and the twists and turns on the journey with them. I enjoyed the writing style and it flowed easily.

Love it.
I loved this story. Don't be put off by the price. This book is worth every penny. It is told from dual points of view in both past and present tense, which is written really well and so is not confusing. Great characters. I would 100% recommend.

an incredible journey
Absolutely loved this book.A little difficult to start with but as soon as you settle into the time line changes its worth persevering with.Reading as each character unfolds has you hooked and it's impossible to not fall in love with every character in the book, not just the lead roles. Not for the light hearted, I sobbed! Worth the read.
I was wanting to read an amnesia style story and Burying Water was recommended to me so I was happy to delve right in.I did enjoy this book and the style of storytelling as the 2 POV's uncovered the story from different points in time, leading up to the big reveal. My heart strings were gently tugged on, however I didn't get the intense emotional attachment I found I was craving - the reasoning for it being a 4 star rating over a 5 star rating. With any book in this genre, I find it is always best to go in as blind as possible, so I will leave my review at that.

Fantastic read! Romance without all the fluff, and a little bit of the mob.
Such a good book! It is told in dual point of views and timelines, but Tucker writes it so seamlessly. Another captivating book. I think this one is a bit better than Ten Tiny Breaths, but I'd you are a K A Tucker fan, you won't be disappointed!
