A Great Book!
This is a wonderful book to share with your family. Pat Thomas has done an excellent job of describing a family with same-sex parents. But most of all she is supporting the fact and belief that we must assist our children in respecting diversity in families. Diversity not just in same -sex parents, but divorced parents, single parents, differences in religion and origin of family members, abilities, etc.A parent, teacher, or librarian would appreciate this book. I really encourage you to share this book with your child(ren_).Don't forget to read the author's suggestions at the end of the book on how to use the book.

Just okay
Our sons have two moms. I was hoping for a more age-appropriate book for them (ages 2 and 4), but it just wasn't right. I don't need to have them learn labels like "lesbian" and "gay" at this age. Understanding that their family is a family with two moms or two dads is enough.

NOT what I expected...
This book was not at all what I expected it to be. I was hoping for a book to read to my almost 2 year old twins. This was NOT the book.It is for a group that basically has never seen or heard of a same sex family. "A woman who loves another woman is called a lesbian." I returned it to Amazon, they told me to keep it and gave me a refund. I ended up throwing it out. I couldn't even donate it, I found it so repulsive.

Cute and honest
Cute book that got my toddler and myself discussing types of families. It uses words like lesbian and gay, which I appreciate.

useful book
This is a very useful book , I bought it as a present for male same sex adopters ; it mentions adoption but the message is there are lots of ways to create a family . It helps children deal with prejudice they may experience by having same sex parents. Only problem is use of 'Mom' ( rather than Mum) might be annoying

This is my family
More than a story, it's a book that introduces kids to different types of families and highlights how, no matter how our family looks like, if we feel loved and supported, nobody has the right to say that our family is wrong. I would not recommend it for younger kids, since it has a lot of text and some paragraphs may be complicated, 5 years and above I would say is a good approach. We really enjoy this book!!
