The Farewell Symphony

I bought this album of Hayden’s Farewell and Clock Symphonies for my own interest and to share with my 8 year old grand daughter hoping to increase her appreciation for symphonic classical music. We’ll see. I bought the book entitled “The Farewell Symphony” by A. H. Calenza for her to read since that story is engaging.Although a used album, this seller cleaned it very well. The music, the recording and the orchestra are excellent.

We bought ours used, and it came with a music CD of the Farewell Symphony. Well written and easier to comprehend with the CD to compare it to. Has been even more popular with my 7 and 9 than expected.

My 7 year old loved this book. We read it together, then he read it again on his own. The illustrations in the book are wonderful, it's written very well for a 1st grader+ level and the attached CD was a nice touch. I have to say though that if your child had little to no exposure to classical music, it may not be as interesting. With the right preparation, this is a wonderful book.

This the best book I found for reading aloud to my elementary class on Haydn. The story is engaging and more importantly based on documented facts. My kids always ask if the stories are true and so I try to find ones based more on fact than fiction. The CD was also a nice accompaniment to reading the book.

Perfect for anyone wanting to learn the story behind the composition of this symphony. I would recommend all of Anna Harwell Celenza’s books.

I bought this for my six year old son. He liked the story. The CD he loved! He and my daughter danced to the music all morning. I look forward to reading the story over and over again for both of them

My mistake was I didn't make sure it was included in the book since it was a used purchase. Bummer.

This is a great book to have.
