NOVA: Death of a Star

I had missed the point about the age of the program. Yes, this Nova program would have indeed been fascinating in 1987 or 1988, even in 1990. The science is very good, and the details are well explained. That is what the 3 Stars are for ! But this is a 18-19 year old program, and given the latest development in computer animation and the latest Hubble pictures, the old program left me wanting for more awesome pictures and graphics. I highly recommend this to those who really like to know about the discovery of Supernova 1987-A ! for the rest of us who like to be dazzled by starts and visual affects, this is not a very good program.

From the title, this looked like a super documentary on a fascinating subject. The reality is that it was originally produced more than 25 years ago, and is seriously outdated. Someone knowing nothing about this subject will find the video informative, but will certainly want to do more research in the interest of becoming more knowledgeable on a fascinating topic.

I'm an amateur astronomer and present SAFE Solar Observing through my neighborhood astronomy club. I would like anyone considering this DVD to know that the subject matter is very dated. It is interesting for the purely curious or novice, but don't expect any recent data in this presentation.

This video was informative, the topic really interesting. But their presentation is on the boring side. I wish I could find the BBC video of the same name, it covered the same topic but was quite a bit less boring.

2006. Excellent. Stacey Keach narration is excellent. Talks about random supernova explosions across the Milky Way.
