Excellent Robotic Pool Skimmer
This pool surface skimmer robot is near-perfect and I am very pleased with it so far. I rarely give a 5-star rating to anything but I can't really find any faults with this so far. I purchased this for my 20' x 40' L-shaped in-ground pool that has two recessed skimmers. We have issues with small insects such as flying ants, dust and other small debris landing on the pool. This unit is perfect for picking up those things efficiently. We rarely get a lot of leaves in it unless we get a storm. The unit came well-packaged and ready to use right out of the box. I charged it fully with the included wall charger before using it the first time. The iPhone app is well-designed and intuitive to use. Plus, the app is very flexible in terms of creating custom schedules (as many as you like). It also shows the battery charge remaining. I created three schedules: 9am - 12pm, 2pm - 5pm, and 6am-7:15am. The solar panel on the unit keeps the battery charged to 90%, even while the unit is actively skimming. (Note that the unit is designed to keep the battery at maximum of 90%, not 100%, while using solar charging, to extend the longterm health of the battery, which is desirable.) The unit has no problems swimming around my pool picking up surface debris. It never got stranded on my built-in steps, ladder, or skimmer openings. I do have the anti-stranding legs extended to keep it from getting stranded on the top step. I did not have to use the included "noodle" to keep it from getting stuck in my pool's skimmers, as that never became an issue, perhaps because of the way my pool's skimmers are designed. Cleaning out the debris from the basket couldn't be simpler. You can use the app to stear the unit to the edge of the pool where you can easily retrieve it for cleaning. Simply turn off the unit, slide out the basket, open it and rinse out the debris with a water hose. The fine-mesh filter in the basket really picks up all those pesky little floating insects including flying ants. The basket is large enough where I only need to clean it about once a week in my situation, but if you get a lot of leaves in your pool each day you may need to empty it more often. I leave the unit on in standby mode at all times if it is in the pool. It goes into standby mode when it isn't actively cleaning or running a scheduled cleaning cycle. The power indicator stays illuminated, even at night, and the charging indicator bar flashes every few seconds, even at night, which is very cool! The unit never has any issues staying connected to my home's mesh WiFi system and the app. It is nice that the app allows me to monitor and control the device from anywhere, not just my home. My pool is equipped with a salt water chlorine generator, so I don't need to insert any chlorine tablets in the chlorine dispenser that is built into the debris basket. That's a nice feature to have if you use chlorine tabs in your pool. I can't speak about the longevity of the device so far, as I've only had it for about a week. But so far, I couldn't be more pleased with it. It has really made a huge difference in keeping surface debris out of my pool so I rarely have to use a net to fish that stuff out before jumping in for a swim. In summary, I think this unit is worth the money, especially if you can find it on sale, as I did. (Plus my kids chipped in to buy it for me as a Father's Day gift.)

Netting is a thing of the past, this is an amazing surface skimmer! (updated)
I just received this a few days ago and my initial reactions are pretty darn cool! Love the look and everything seems to be pretty decently well built from first glance. Now for the pros after a few days - Battery life has been pretty awesome, I only charged it once and cannot confirm the claimed battery life of 30+ hours because the sun has been charging it back up. What I have seen though is this device will totally run 30+ hours without sun. I would only expect this to be an issue during the winter time. I only have sun on my pool about half the day and it charges it back up to 90% everyday. The robot has done an excellent job skimming the pool and has not gotten stuck that wasn’t my fault. So kudos! Cons - okay so after about an hour of use the machine started making clicking noises. I could not find exactly where it was coming from initially, but it sounded like gears missing. Everything seemed like it was working but it was a loud enough sound it seemed something is off. It’s the weekend so the support staff will not respond until Monday, so I will update this afterwards depending on how they respond. After further watching and thinking what it could be, I finally figured it out for those of you who have the same issue. The filter box does not quite click in to place, so once you put it in correctly and after several minutes the box becomes comes out ever so slightly and the gears start to miss. This is very subtle, but you can test it while it’s making the noise just push your finger on the filter box and you’ll notice it goes in a tiny amount and then noise goes away. It comes back and you can repeat this endlessly. So I’m concerned that the noise is annoying and that the gears will eventually wear out. This is a design flaw and I know others have complained about the noise too. I will seek a replacement. Unsure if it’s the box or the whole thing that needs replacement. One last qualm, the chlorine container on the inside is to small to fit a chlorine puck likes it’s designed to do…somebody messed up in the design room on that one too. I still use it, I just cannot close the lid. Kinda annoying. If it wasn’t for the gear noise I would rate this a 4.5. It’s unknown how the longevity will be. Can update that in the future as well. Will update in a few days after a call with their support staff. (Update 3-21-25) - Aiper support reached out to me to resolve the issue and they wanted to make things right by sending me a replacement. They were very quick about it which I appreciated. After comparing the replacement model with my faulty one I was able to narrow down the exact problem causing the loud noise and I am happy to report that it was not the main unit but the basket that was faulty. The gear is the basket was loose and wobbly while the new one was firm. Keep this in mind if anyone else has that issue, you just need a basket replacement. Regardless, I am super happy that Aiper came through in the customer service department. I waited to make sure the new one ran for a solid 24 hours before updating here. My pool surface is crystal clear and the Surfer S2 is now quiet. The battery life has been phenomenal with that little solar panel on top, it never dies and during the day it charges up to 90% and stays there until the sun sets. I believe it has a setting to prevent it from charging via the solar panel past 90% to better preserve the battery aging, brilliant! In summary, after having this Surfer S2 for a few weeks now I can say that my pool has never looked better. It's one thing to have your bottom swept, but that is usually stuff that has been on the surface for a few days before sinking down. This collects all of that debris before that ever happens and in doing so it also minimizes what goes into your pool skimmer if you have one. No more jumping into the pool only to be greeted by bugs and random floaters all around you, no more skimming the pool with a net before having friends over...if this device holds up longevity wise then you can bet every pool owner in the world will eventually get one of these, it just makes sense!!! My rating is 4.5 stars. If they make the chlorine tablet holder larger, it would easily be a 5 star!

One of those products that simply works every single day
I own a pool in Florida, so keeping the surface clean is a constant task because of leaves, insects, pollen, and other debris that collect throughout the day. After using the AIPER EcoSurfer S2 for several months, I can honestly say it has completely changed my maintenance routine. The best thing about this robot is its reliability. It simply works. It navigates around obstacles, keeps moving across the pool, and requires almost no attention. So far it has never gotten stuck, never stopped unexpectedly, and has been completely dependable. It's one of those products you set up once and almost forget it's even there. The solar charging performs very well during sunny days, which is most of the year here in Florida. I also appreciate having the option to recharge it with the included cable during rainy weather or whenever it needs a quick boost. Having both charging methods makes it a true set-it-and-forget-it device. The app is straightforward and easy to use, and the OTA firmware updates are a nice bonus because they show the manufacturer continues improving the product over time. Its ability to collect leaves, insects, pollen, and floating debris has been excellent. By continuously cleaning the surface, it also helps reduce the workload on the pool's filtration system and keeps the water looking much cleaner every day. If I could improve one thing, I would make the debris basket slightly larger for seasons with heavy leaf fall, since it needs to be emptied more often. Also, this is a surface skimmer, so it is not intended to replace a robotic pool cleaner for the floor or walls. Overall, this has been an exceptionally reliable product. It doesn't fail, it doesn't create problems, and it delivers exactly what it promises. If you're tired of skimming your pool by hand every day, this is a purchase I would absolutely recommend.

Piper pool surface cleaner.
Absolutely a must have, does a great job for all pool water surfaces. Collects all surface, leaves, pollen, etc. Easy to clean and operates on solar power.

It just keeps going and going!
Let me start by saying when I first received this and put it in the pool I thought it was the greatest pool accessory ever. I purchased it in June 25 and it ran continuously through the end of the year and kept the top of the water perfect. Fast-forward to this year when it started to be a little noisy. I inspected it and found out that the impeller on one side was coming loose. I snapped it back in and a week or two went by no problem. Over the last few days, I have gone out every morning to find that the impeller is loose again and it’s not picking up anything bigger than than an ant. I contacted Aiper this morning. I got a response this evening informing me that the filter basket is a consumable item. I was also told that it is not available online and was given a pretty reasonable price to replace it directly from Aiper. I asked for two. Because if the first one didn’t last one year, I’m sure the next one won’t either. My summation of the situation is that, something that I thought was amazing is not. The customer service from Aiper is OK. I could not absolutely recommend this item. I hope the scuba V3 that I have recently purchased works a little better than this. I’m sure once again the basket will fail somehow and I will be on the hook for more money. At the end of the day, the Aiper stuff is OK, when it’s time to replace it, I will probably look elsewhere. Upon reading this review, the Aiper customer Service Team refunded the money I spent for the two replacement baskets. I have raised the star rating from 3 to 4 because they stand behind their product.

Yes, it can work along with a Polaris pressure side hose pool cleaner!
This thing works great! And yes, it works with a Polaris pressure side hose cleaner, which most people say can't work. I was out for an evening swim, when some lights reflected on the water surface, revealing all kinds of things floating around: tiny bugs, pollen/dust, flower petals, etc. It seems that every one of my neighbors has a crepe myrtle tree with petals that blow into our pool. I didn't like the idea of swimming around in all of that stuff. So I started searching for a skimmer. I figure a skimmer can trap debris before it has time to sink to the bottom, also making things easier on the Polaris. But, all the reviews said you couldn't use a solar skimmer along with a hose cleaner. I saw someone mention adding weights to the hose, but I had an idea. I debated between the Aiper and the Bette skimmer, but I like the idea of having an app, with a scheduler, in case I need to schedule around the hose cleaner or something. I went ahead and ordered the Aiper Surfer S2. Cheaper than the Bette at the time. It arrived. I linked the app, set it in the water and turned it on. It ran around doing its thing. Awesome. But then, it got to the hose and got stuck. Just like they said. I tried scheduling the skimmer to turn off for an hour so the hose cleaner could run. But the hose cleaner would surround the skimmer and they'd both get stuck. I thought about alternating, like pulling the Polaris out and dropping it in as needed. Or letting it run, and only putting the skimmer in as needed. But I really liked the idea of the skimmer running 24/7, and the Polaris running for an hour every day. So I experimented. SOLUTION! The solution turned out to be pretty easy. I simply removed almost all of the hose floats. I removed 6 of them. There are now only 3. There's one on the section of hose coming from the side of the pool. There's one on the 2nd hose section. And there's one on the 3rd section, right above the rescue valve. That 3rd float stays submerged and only helps the valve stay out of the way of the cleaner. Only 2 floats are actually on the surface. I made sure the 1st section, coming from the wall, stays slightly higher in the water than the 2nd section. And of course the 3rd section goes down to the cleaner. Think of each section of hose as kind of "draping" into the water, but not reaching the bottom. There are now only 2 floats at the surface, and the hose drops away on both sides of each float at a sharp angle. I had to get into the water and just slide the floats until I got them the way I wanted. Now, the skimmer glides over the hoses without touching them at all. If it runs into one of the 2 floats, it gently powers over them. The floats are kind of held down by the weight of the hoses, so they are easy for the skimmer to push over. See video. End result is that my pool looks INCREDIBLE now. The bottom surface is spotless, as it gets cleaned for an hour every day. And the Polaris makes good use of the hour, by not getting stuck, and by having a Zipper closure on the bag. It actually cleans, instead of just looking busy. (Our old Pentair Racer looked busy but kept sticking in the corners and blowing debris straight out of the velcro opening.) The Aiper skimmer runs 24/7 on the surface. It doesn't have a set pattern or mapping, but it is relentless and tireless! No bugs, no pollen, no crepe myrtle petals can hide forever. The water shimmers and is clear from the top surface, through the middle, all the way down to the bottom. It really looks incredible. We keep staring at it in wonder. It is that noticeable. And when I went out for an evening swim, the water was like it just poured out of a filtered pitcher. Get one of these skimmers. If you have a hose cleaner, remove most of the floats. Enjoy crystal clear water. Note: In the video, I still had 4 floats, not 3. I later removed one more float that was not needed, so only 3 floats remain. This video should give you a good idea of how it is setup, and how easily the skimmer can push over a hose float, so long as you remove most of them.

Outstanding customer service
Update 9/21/25 the more i use the surfer S2 skimmer, the more I realized my first review was a little too early to really understand the whole functionality is this item. As stated in my last update, I learned how to use the remote control which works really well for me. Also, because it has a really good solar panel, its always charged (in fact, I only charged it with the plug in charger the first time I opened the skimmer. there is no need to charge it again as the solar panel keeps it charged all the time), then I can leave it on my pool for hours chasing the the few leaves that i have and eventually will pick them up. Emptying and cleaning the debris basket is also very easy and only takes me a couple of minutes. however, since i don't have many leaves, I don't really need to clean it every time I use it. Because I feel now more comfortable using it and its functionally now meets my expectations plus their customer service is really second to none, I've decided to finally upgrade my review to 5 stars to better reflect my experience with the Surfer S2 Update: 9/12/25 I wanted to update my original review as I have had now more experience with this product. First, as a mentioned in my original, I only have a few leaves a day on my pool, therefore as the Aiper skimmer navigates around the pool, it may take a while before it picks up the leaves as they are scattered troughout the pool, however I learned that there is a remote control function where you can direct the skimmer towards the leaves or any floating debris. I've been using this way and I can pick up the leaves in no time. I'm glad that the Aiper team thought of this functionality as this works much better for my particular situation. Second, the minute that the Aiper customer service team found out that I was having issues with my new equipment, the contacted me and offered several solutions to solve my issues. This team has gone above and beyond (very rare today) to keep me a happy customer and they have even offered and sent me their Scuba X1 cordless robotic pool cleaner for me to try it. Had I suspected the Aiper customer service was so responsive, I would have contacted them when I had issues with the equipment rather than just leaving a poor review. My bad!!! I can't wait to try the Scuba X1 and I will be giving an unbiased review. Maybe i will be able to finally get rid of having a hose floating on my pool constantly (as is the case with my navigator pool cleaner) Again, kudos for the Aiper customer team and you just won me as a customer for life!! Even though I upgraded my review from 2 stars to 4 stars, I give their customer service 5 stars. I really wanted to like this but after two weeks I'm really disappointed. I don't get a lot of leaves in my pool, normally about 15 leaves a day or so but I wanted this equipment so the leaves don't fall to the bottom and had to be picked up by my navigator floor cleaner since my skimmer doesn't always pick up everything. Unfortunately this thing kind of floats aimlessly with not much logic on how it moves around. It sort of feels lost in the pool. it moves and cleans very slowly. The instructions says to leave it on for at least 3.5 hrs for best cleaning results. I leave it for 8 -10 hrs (after I take out my navigator and hose, so it doesn't get tangled with it) and I'm lucky if it picks up 5 or 6 leaves. I've been watching while it cleans and most of the times it does a great job avoiding running into the leaves floating around. as it moves straight to 1 or 2 leaves floating around, it changes course and avoids the leaves or stops altogether and turns to the left, to the right or turns around 180 and misses the debris. Again, no logic how it moves around. the ad says it does targeted cleaning around the edge of the pool. In two weeks it hasn't pick up single leave around the edges of the pool, actually I had to pick them up with the pool net I was going to buy the Aiper Scuba X1 floor cleaner to get rid of the hose always floating in my pool, but after this experience, I'm definitely keeping my Navigator which I've had for years and does a great job cleaning the floor. I guess it may work better if your pool has a lot of leaves floating and maybe it has a better chance to run into many leaves and pick them up, but if you want it to just pick up a few leaves a day, its not worth the investment. In all honesty, my in ground skimmer does a better job picking up daily leaves than this equipment. Just yesterday, my pool have roughly about 20 leaves, my skimmer pick up 12 and the Aiper pick up 4 and this was after 6 hrs of use.

Did I buy a Lemon? Read my novel and you decide!
Initial Review: I love my Aiper Surfer S2. I get a lot of leaf litter and pollen in my pool each Summer, especially when the pool is first opened and the maple pollen is falling. Often, the pool skimmer basket gets totally clogged with leaves if I don't go out to check on it daily. In the past, we have spent a lot of pool time swimming around and manually skimming debris that falls in while we are actually in the pool. With the Surfer, anything that falls onto the water surface is quickly gobbled up. I was a bit skeptical the first day I placed it in the pool--- within two hours, I'd gotten a message about the impeller being clogged. But that was when the long tree pollen/blossoms were falling. After emptying the basket every two hours that first day, I've had no other issues with clogs. I was amazed at how much of this pollen/blossom crap was held in the basket. The debris is easy to discard from the pull-out drawer. After the initial charging, my skimmer has spent all of its time living on the pool surface, recharging via its solar power. Yay! The one issue I AM experiencing is a noisy clacking sound made by the gear on the impeller. At first, I suspected there was something caught against the impeller fins (similar to how we used to make noise with bicycle wheels and attached playing cards....showing my age :-D ), but looking inside didn't reveal any sticks or other debris that might be causing the racket. When I hold the robot lower in the water, the sound stops. The noise is only noticeable if I leave the skimmer running while I am in the pool, but it is annoying. Otherwise, I would give this new pool toy a 5-star rating. Update #1: I still love the job my Aiper Surfer S2 does at keeping my pool clean. However, I have been discussing the noise issue with their Customer Support. Apparently this impeller gear is missing the "bearing" (as seen on the third photo in this comment, supplied by Customer Support) which is why it is rattling. They had offered to send me a new filter basket when we first began discussion about this issue. Now that I've finally had a chance to disassemble it to see if the bearing was missing, they tell me there are no more filter baskets in stock and have asked me to return mine for repair. I do NOT want to do so as it is doing its job and I don't want to be without it during pool season. I've lowered my rating of this item because it was obviously not constructed properly in the first place. Update #2: Thumbs up to Crystal with Aiper's Customer Support, she did a great job in our interactions. However, I am NOT going to delete this review as she requested. Since they were not able to send me a replacement filter basket, Aiper sent me an entire new Surfer S2. I simply took the new bin from that and swapped it for the noisy one. However, I was then left with the hassle of needing to return the faulty piece of equipment...no small feat as the box was cumbersome and finding a FedEx facility that was able to print off the return label proved to be challenging. None of this would have been an issue if the original Surfer S2 had been properly constructed. Update #3 (5/29/26): This worked great for the first year, except for the noise issue which was detailed in the earlier updates I made. Maybe I was just sent a lemon from the start and should have kept the entire replacement skimmer they sent to me instead of just swapping out the faulty basket and returning the otherwise new robot as I detailed in Update #2. At any rate, after having my pool opened this year and fully charging the Surfer, I put it into the pool where it ran perfectly...for a couple of days. When I went out to empty the basket a second time a few days later, I found it with flashing red lights and not moving, and it had collected NOTHING in the basket since I’d previously emptied it. I restarted the Surfer and I could see that one of the propellers was not turning. This caused the skimmer to just go in circles before finally shutting itself off and sending me an error message “Propeller jammed, please clean". I could see that the propeller was NOT jammed and was able to freely turn but I still pulled it out to "unjam" it several times, and even switched the right and left propellers to no avail. This seems like a very simple device, so all I can think of is that whatever microchip controls these propellers has failed. Customer Support is researching my current complaint but I doubt Aiper will do anything for this out-of-warranty robot. :-(. Right now, this is dead in the water and the trees are still dropping debris into my pool. I guess I'll have to order a replacement and hope for better luck with the next one I purchase. It really IS a wonderful tool for anyone who has a pool prone to leaves and debris falling into it. This time, I'll probably buy the Amazon extended warranty though, as Aiper DID come thru with the first issue. I’ve been exploring the Aiper app on my phone today for the first time and discovered that this Surfer’s total cleaning time is 1904 hours. That cost me 16 cents per hour of operation...quite a good deal IMO. After looking back at all the low-rated customer reviews of this product, I see that lots of other people have experienced both of the issues that I have had with my Surfer. This makes me wonder how many people whose Aiper skimmers needed repairs opted to take the "deal" I was offered to remove my negative review. I've decided to go with a higher-rated robot skimmer to replace this one.

Works great, love the solar charging!
This review is for the AIPER Surfer S2 Solar Pool Skimmer with APP Support, 24/7 Cleaning, Dual Charging Modes, Smart Obstacle Avoidance, Ideal for All Swimming Pool Types. I received it earlier in the Summer, and it's done a fantastic job throughout, but in the fall is where I'm really reaping the benefits. My neighbour has some deciduous trees, and it's one the the earliest to drop it's leaves. We have still had some really warm days so I'm hesitant to close the pool. This Beast has been great at scooping the surface garbage before it goes underwater. The sun isn't as strong as in the height of summer, but the panel gets enough to keep it going. The skimmer is relatively easy to handle and scoop out of the pool. Emptying the filter is also easy. I don't use the Bluetooth, and it does a great job getting around the pool and hitting all the spots.

A loyal soldier!
After 2 months of use, I now can officially say that this is a must. You can program this skimmer to operate a couple of hours in the morning and afternoon and it does a great job at picking up everything from leaves to pollen. An added benefit is I do not have the water line to leave a gap for my skimmer box as I do not rely on the pool pump and filter to skim the top of my pool, I can now raise the water level by 1 or 2 inches. I also never had to charge the skimmer, it always hovers between 80% to 100%, even after 4-6 hours of run time every day.

Enjoy a sparkling clean pool this summer with the AIPER S2 solar powered robot
So I've used this solar powered pool cleaning device since opening my pool. It has worked flawlessly. Who would have thought this little robot would be so darn awesome. This is a mid range peace of kit. It has some good features and software that elevates it above some of it's competition. With a 36h battery life and ease of use. This might be the ultimate companion for those days where you want to enjoy you're pool instead of cleaning it. The build: This product is built with dense high precision molds that are designed to be fully submersible. It boasts high precision spacial awareness sensors that can navigate many types of surfaces. These include flat, decline, incline, walls, rounded and stairs. The cleaning heads offer surface and side scrubbing actions. The robot also sucks in small to medium sized debris with ease. As scene on the pictures above the bottom roller treads are suction based and offer a smooth transition from floor to walls. Without damaging you're pools cover. The recharging receptacle is fully inclosed in a water tight gasket preventing any leaks and potential moisture damage. The large detritus basket is easy to remove and features micro mesh technology. Optimizing water clarity and offering a superior micro particulate sieve. The latest model offers an upgraded back door design. Specifically used in manual mode when performing backtracking maneuvers. The other version would sometimes spit out leaves and other particulates. Thanks to this welcome upgrade that is a thing of the past. Cleaning modes: There are 2 cleaning modes to choose from. Auto, and manual. 1 Auto Mode cleans the entire pools surface..then docs the vacuum close to the edge for easy access. 2 Manual mode: Allows you to control the robot directly via the app. You can guide it's path in real time. In use: I have tested this unit for the past 2 months without any hiccups. It has been consistently good and does it's job with minimal effort. I have tested in in my own above ground circular pool and my sisters in ground rectangular pool. It performed great in both circumstances. Offering the same level of leaning power. For all the good there was a handful of times that the robot got confused on my sisters regular stairs. After turning it off then back on it worked fine after recalibration. Since this is a battery operated machine it takes it's time and might be a bit slow for some users. Cleaning my sisters 28L buy 10W foot pool took almost 1h50mins. This included the walls and surface. In my modest 24 foot above ground pool it took 1hour. Witch is pretty good especially considering, I only had to empty the basket once. In the fall it needed more frequent emptying around 2 to 3 times per use. Since I have many trees on my property. . The unit also charges in the sun offering a constant cleaning solution with even less fuss. This is especially true if you have no trees in you're yard. Yet with the constant shade my unit needed to be topped up at the end of a hard days work. Final thoughts: If you are looking for the robot that could. Then look no further THEN the AIPER surface s2 solar. The ultimate pool cleaning solution. Stop stressing and start relaxing this summer. No worries when guest come over for that all important pool party. The top will be sparkling clean. With it's ease of use high precision sensors 2 modes of operation, voice assistant, solar power, full manual control and great battery life. This might just be the ultimate solution for you're pool cleaning needs. HIHGLY RECOMMENDED
