this thing is awesome, no setup just power on and play. Well worth the price. Feels high quality comes in the best packaging I've seen the microSD card is already in the device, the device is in the case it comes with, comes with a screen shield that is in the case along with the cable that is in the case, no extra un-needed packaging. I wish more companies did this instead of bulky packaging for an SD card separate packaging for case packaging for device, packaging for screen protector... ...you get the point. 10/10 would recommend.

I genuinely LOVE THIS. Pros: - functional, haven’t run into any issues with the battery or any heating issues. My main concern was overheating but i mainly play gameboy games so this is fine. - smooth. Gameplay is pretty smooth and runs like I remember back in the ye old days. - affordability. It’s a great first emulation device for first time emulation style gamers. This definitely makes me want to explore other devices as well! - so many games. OnionOS makes it really easy to control your games - portability. Great case and discreet size! The only con is I wish it was just so ever slightly larger. My fingers tend to hit the back of the system which has the L2 R2 buttons and that’s been a little frustrating to deal with, but that’s more a me problem than the system itself.

This system is awesome! I only use it for GBA, GBC, PS1, and Sega Genesis. Completely customizable and very simple. I would only recommend this product to you if you have a computer/laptop or access to one of those items. The one I got had an insane amount of game files still compressed on the card. Very lazy configuration. Recommend a complete reinstall of OnionOS. Make sure when you download the OS from GitHub you grab the themes pack. ChatGPT can help with this process easily. Once you’re set up it’s just about downloading your favorite games. Highly recommend Vimms Lair. Clean official roms and emulators Have fun!

Not enough games with small screen.

This version is much better than the v4 mini although a bit bulky in the pocket, the build quality is incredible and the buttons are consistently clicky compared with the mini which has a squishy Y button that feels strange to press after pressing the other buttons which feel good and click well. People are always asking me what this thing is when I am on the go and want to get one. I had a crash when first testing but it's just a software issue not hardware and since adding the BIOS it has not crashed once as recommended.

First off, the build quality is great and there isn't really a shortage of features for this. My only gripe is I really with this could handle N64 games, but I knew that it couldn't going in. Compared to the Magicx UI Mini, this thing is vastly superior in terms of the build quality. Everything feels so much more solid and tactile. It's hard to describe but the buttons just feel the way that they're supposed to. The screen size is good for most retro games and the battery lasts long enough, provided you actually power it off instead of just putting it in sleep. Sleep drains the battery faster than I think it should. I mostly wanted this to play neogeo, snes, and psx games. For the neo geo and snes this actually works pretty well. For PSX, GBA, or anything that uses the shoulder buttons, this form factor isn't really doing it for me. I had trouble finding a comfortable way to hold it while still being able to readily push any button, which you need for something like a racing game or fighting games. I also found that the way I held it also seemed to cover the speaker most of the time. I wish Miyoo made something like this in a horizontal form factor, as that seems to be a better fit for the games that I play. That's really my biggest gripe, though that's pretty subjective. I didn't grow up with a game boy so I can't really compare the feel of it to that. Big plus that this came with the sdcard, case, and screen protector.

Vendor installed onionOS, a more user friendly operating system, and even installed the glass protector prior to shipping. This emulator came preloaded with a ridiculous amount of games from 21 different consoles/handhelds. 10/10.

With the Onion OS version, everything works out of the box, however, if you want to add your own ROMs (as I’m sure you will) it’s not 100% a frictionless and intuitive experience. I had to look up how to do it. For future purchasers here’s how to do it: (note: I intuited all these steps except for the last one) 1) take out microSD from bottom of device 2) put microSD in usb microSD reader and plug that into computer (included though I purchased my own) 3) find the roms file within your microSD and drag and drop the roms to the appropriate console subfolder (ex: the NES folder, say) 4) safely eject usb reader and put sd card back in console (so far this is relatively simple for most even non tech savvy folk as long as you understand folders and the way they’re structured) 5) (this is what I had to look up ) navigate to your emulators page (press the Games option on main menu) on your miyoo, press select button and press refresh ROMs. There you go, now roms should show up. One last tip: to add an emulator that doesn’t come with the console (the Nintendo ones for example) navigate to right on main menu and press a on apps option. Select “Package Manager” and turn on the emulators you want. If you could do both of those things, you’ll be fine, but it just takes a tiny bit of doing. After that, the system is fantastic and I’m especially impressed by the vibrant screen.

Exactly what I was looking for

My brother had this on his wishlist and absolutely loved it. He is 30 years old, but brought back the memories from when we were children. Perfect to throw in your bag and take along throughout the day for a quick game.

This was my first ever retro handheld, and I really like it definitely gonna buy more handhelds. If you're thinking about getting this, IA 100% recommend you to get it. It's a really good product.
