Excellent lens protection at a bargain price
These definitely aren't a multi-coated filter as others have stated, more like just opticaly clear glass (or more likely optics-grade plastic). That's perfectly fine since it makes them much easier to clean, and the multi-coating on the lens itself is all you really need. They aren't made in Japan despite the JAPAN text, the packaging clearly states made in China. As protection on the end of a lens they are fantastic. I have used these in incredibly difficult lighting conditions, with no lens hood, and had perfect results. No flares, no distortion, nothing. I almost went with Tiffen, but those seem to have poor reviews based on quality.Overall these are just what you need for any beginner/budget SLR/DSLR. There's no need to buy anything more expensive unless you're doing professional level stuff, but even then they'd be an excellent disposable protector for the price.

A practical nice filter with good quality.
Zeikos markets inexpensive UV filters. However, the filters were made with good quality. My pictures taken with the UV filter does not have distortion and achromatic changes judged by naked eyes when compared with those taken without. The metal rim is made with good quality. The thread fits camera lens well. I compared this filter with more expensive ones and found little difference in my pictures. The difference is probably there, theoretically, if measured by instruments but I wouldn't be able to tell. Those more expensive UV filters supposedly cut down haze better but I did not bother to compare. My pictures taken with this UV filter do not have haze so why should I care.Highly recommended for 95% of photographers who can only tell the sutble quality difference by reading reviews, but not by eyes. The remaining 5% is the professionals or semi-professionals who, like music professionals, may tell one note played by pianist A slightly stronger than that played by B. For the true professionals, no one can recommend anything to them anyway. They have their own preference or brand loyalty. However. even among professionals, there are differences in opinion as which UV filter is the best. So you figure.I received my filter 2 days after I placed the order. It is amazing to see Amazon as a big company can continuously and persistently deliver the quality of service. I know this is not easy. It takes tons of time and energy.

Works fine, great price
Truth be told, I don't normally use filters on my lenses. But knowing I'd be taking a trip to the NC coast and doing some photography on the beach - with all the salt spray and blowing sand that implies - I decided a bit of extra protection was in order. This is basically the cheapest multi coated filter I could find. What makes the others so expensive, I have no clue - but I do know that I saw no issues using this one. It did an excellent job deflecting sand and collecting salt spray, keeping my lens's front element nice and safe. Others say it's not truly multi-coated - maybe that's true. But I personally never saw ghosting or flare in my own use of the item (though, to be fair, I wasn't specifically trying to reproduce those conditions, so I might have just gotten lucky)."UV Protection" is pointless these days (even on film), so don't expect it to do anything with respect to your images, but if you just want to add a layer of protection over your front element, this gets the job done.

Unsubstantiated claim takes away from value
Fully evaluating the quality of this filter is difficult - you need to take photographs under different lighting conditions of standard charts and measure the amount of reflection, absorption, diffraction, etc. Such evaluations are reserved for much higher-grade filters and are not justifiable on a sub-five-dollar item. The reason why I am writing this review is to point out that the product DOES make the claim that it is multi-coated, as evidenced by the product packaging (see my product image at the top of the page). I don't know what Zeikos had in mind when they dubbed this a "digital multi coated UV protector", but it certainly does not mean that the glass has multiple layers of reflection-suppressing optical coatings. Maybe they laid down multiple coats of something else.As for UV protection - any glass absorbs UV light quite well; in fact, it is very difficult to make glass that doesn't (e.g., quartz UV lights). Hence, I don't doubt that this item filters out UV light, but that's not why I purchased it. The only reason I got it is so I can use my lens under some harsh conditions (e.g., at the beach). At all other times, I plan to not have it on the lens. After some casual use, I will get a better idea of its quality and I might come back to change my rating. For now, the only reason it gets even 4 stars is because of its low price (pretty much free, if you figure shipping).Other than that, I did not notice any mechanical problems; for instance, there was no difficulty screwing and unscrewing the filter on the lens. I would recommend this filter only on a cheap kit lens and under certain situations when you need the extra protection.

Works well
This filter works well on my camera lenses. It's cheap to buy and it is a great quality. Finally a way to protect my lenses from scratches!

Zeikos

Pleasantly surprised
I didn't expect too much from this filter as it is quite cheap but I was impressed by the build quality. It screwed onto my lens with no binding and subsequent tests with bright lighting, sunlight and flash show no signs of reflections or colour being affected. I would definitely recommend this filter as a cheap lens protector for larger lenses.
