Amazing Drain Snake!
Ok, bought this due to another Kitchen sink stoppage. Just so tired of paying a Plumber tons of money and then the sink is clogged again within a year. Yeah, it's probably all the leftovers I throw down the sink but hey! Not my fault the sink can't handle it! Just kidding. Anyway.....read the manual, put it together and immediately used it within an hour of it landing on my doorstep. Can't say I'm not happy with it because I am. Nice device and don't forget it has an "Unlimited Lifetime Warranty" which I didn't notice until I read it on the box and manual. That's a good thing! As for how it works I won't go into it since you should definitely read the manual on how to put it together and operate it. If you operate it incorrectly you may damage it so I suggest highly that you read the book. Yes, you men reading this please for once in your life read the darn directions! :) The only thing other than what I've written so far that I want to express is the grip operation requires a bit more force (grip) than I thought. You have to squeeze one handle for the cable to extend and another to retract. I had to test it to make sure it was extending since it seemed to take forever to snake through the pipe. Well, apparently my grip was not enough to engage the mechanism to get the cable to move....duh! After I figured that out no problem. Sink drain cleared and working great now! Only two things I can think of to make this unit "better" or I should say "spectacular": 1) Some kind of indicator on the unit to show how far the cable has moved into the pipe and 2) 50 feet or even 75 feet of cable for those really long piping runs. I realize the unit would have a larger drum but wow, a 50 foot or 75 foot cable would help immensely for those long drain systems. All in all I'm very pleased with this and yes, I did register online so please, if you get one I suggest you register right away for your warranty.

Excellent value and a tremendous time saver if you have frequent drain issues.
Overall an extremely good product. It's not professional quality, but more than enough for homeowners or occasional use. Positives: - Quick and easy to use. Literally a 2 minute setup and 10 minute cleanup. - Cleans drains much faster and more effectively than a manual snake. - Actively pulls debris out of the drain. It runs in forward rotation while pulling the snake from the drain, which is important because it maintains the grip on the clog. - The foot activated power switch is easy to use and frees up both hands for managing the cable. - Auto feed makes operating the unit ridiculously easy. Negatives: - The auto feed doesn't provide much feedback. It can be difficult to know if it's actually moving the cable or not and seems to lose grip easily once the cable is dirty. - There's no visual indication showing how much cable you've fed into the drain. Colored stripes on the cable every few feet would be extremely useful. I'll probably add these myself. - The foot pedal feels a bit flimsy. I'd rather have a mechanical switch than the air powered version. My purchase was motivated by a terrible clog in my main bath that caused both the sink and tub to backup and couldn't be cleared with either a 1/4" or 3/8" manual snake. Turns out the previous owner of my house had a habit of dropping tooth floss into the drain. I read the instructions for this unit, plugged it in, and within 2 minutes had a foot long mass of floss, rust chunks, and hair sitting in my lap. After struggling with my drains and manual snakes for three years, I was stunned by the speed and ease of using this machine. I've since cleaned my kitchen sink, sinks and tubs in two other bathrooms, and the drain on my washing machine over the past two hours. In total I pulled roughly a tightly packed quart jar worth of material from the drains. I've never seen water move like this in my house before. To say the K-30 has been a lifesaver is an understatement. Any flaws it has are minor annoyances, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone.

Paid for its self on 1st use!
Very good tool. Used it to clear kitchen drain which was plugged up with a brilo pad. Did the job. To get a plumber in our area is -150-200, bucks, so buying this was a no brainer. Read the instructions , watch the utube videos , get the cheap leather gloves, Wal mart garden center or dollar store. This is a good tool to have. Start by removing rubber tip. Insert into drain about a foot or more, hold foot pedal down with machine turned on. Push forward on sleeve control, the snake will pop forward a inch or two at a time, pop, pop, pop. When you hear a different sound, let's say a tap, tap, tap. Move the sleeve to reverse for 2 seconds, then forward for 3 seconds. Do this until you hear the pop, pop sounds again. You are thru the blockage, run snake to the end, then use the reverse sleeve control to pull it all the way back. Do not use the reverse on the power switch, this will yank it hard backward, if it's all the way back, you will mess up your coiled snake. If stuck in the drain line you may need this but probably not if you take your time, and listen to the pop and tap sounds. Hope this helps.

The best mini drain cleaner for the money
I bought this unit to use for tub, kitchen, and vanity drains. Today it went to work as I had 12 drain lines scheduled at an apartment complex. This unit performed flawlessly! It does take some hand grip strength to actuate the forward and retrieve lever, but it was not uncomfortable. I really loved the guide sleeve as this kept mess down to almost nothing. The 1/4" cable performed like any other cable of that size and will kink if not kept under control. I believe this unit will provide long life and great performance for small drains. I wish I had one of these units years ago. The only things that would enhance this unit would be a longer cable length and an electrical foot switch vs. the air foot switch. All in all, I would highly recommend this product and would buy again. Those that complained about the cable and stated the cable won't last long, very simple don't know how to run a drain machine properly.

it works better than manual snake
I have used different kinds of snakes before. first one I owned is the pure manual snake, I often get tired before my problem get solved. Second on I owned is the "Ridgid Power spin". which is very in-expensive, it works better than manual snake. But still not easy as it seems to be. It works well until one day the center part of plastic drum (connecting to power drill) broken. So I decided to upgrade to this little one. The price is still pretty accept-able, and this is way better! I watched the youtub video before I buy, it works exactly as I'm expecting. happy buyer.

Used Five Times and It Broke
I am updating my review. I bought this unit about 2.5 years ago and used it 5 times. It worked well for what it was. It wasn't long enough to do my whole drain pipe but worked ok. I plugged it in today and nothing. It has now become a nice paperweight. Don't buy this unit. I did not abuse it in anyway. It was stored in a clean, dry environment. Spend your money on a manual snake or spend a little more on a real drain cleaner. This was way too expensive to use 5 times. It is really ashamed when a company uses the cheapest parts they can and they know it's not going to work for more than a few times. I looked on the unit to see if there was an 800 number I could call, and there is nothing on the unit. I wonder why?
