Fun kit for creative kids with some minor flaws !!
This kit consists of LEGO-style bricks and a Bluetooth controller box that requires 3 AA batteries. The controller box contains 2 motors, an infrared sensor, and a color sensor. The best feature of this kit is its compatibility with other LEGO bricks, allowing limitless possibilities for building. I ordered this set for my 9-year-old child. He had an absolute blast constructing a batmobile-style RC car, following the instructions provided in the booklet included in the box. He was able to program a simple code to make it move a certain distance, turn back, and return to its original position. In addition to the RC car, he also built the crane. However, he struggled to build it entirely on his own and required some assistance. The instructions were not very clear. For example, the instructions for the crane indicated to simply loop the cord in one pulley, which was confusing for a child as a looped cord would not hold. I had to instruct him to tie a knot instead. Moreover, the instructions and coding tutorials do not explain how to use the infrared sensor or the color sensor properly. The code contains conditional statements like "If Infrared sensor(1-7) == x", where x can be any number between 1 to 7. However, the instructions do not clarify what each number from 1 to 7 represents. Similarly, for the color sensor, the conditional statement is "if color sensor(1-3)", but there is no explanation in the introductory course on the code about which color corresponds to each number or even that each number represents a color. Furthermore, regarding the infrared sensor, I believe the number represents how many times you block the sensor with your waving hand in quick succession. However, I will need to verify this further to be certain. The instructions for the crane were also in a confusing order, making it more challenging to build. Parts that were assembled earlier were not reinforced, resulting in potential breakages when returning to reinforce those sections later. This kit would have been perfect if the instructions were clearer and explanations were provided more thoroughly. Additionally, the sensors were connected to the controller module with fixed wires, which tended to hang and stretch out while my child was building the projects. I am doubtful about how long these wires can hold up under frequent use. It would have been much better if these wires were modular, allowing for easier management and reducing the risk of wear and tear. I am eager for my child to build the other 8 models that this kit offers, along with many more creations by combining it with our LEGO set. Overall, I would definitely recommend this kit, with the hope that they refine the instructions and provide better explanations for future users.

Perfect Distraction from Video Games for Girls or Boys
If your kid is the type who is hard to peel away from the video games, this is the perfect distraction! The app remote control gives them the impression that they're still playing their video games, but it's so much more about the Lego-like building, and even when they are using their tablets, they are coding much of the time, which I consider to be worthwhile computer time. The bricks snap together well. If you've had many off-brand building products, you'll know that many of them either fall apart easily or are frustratingly difficult to click together. Rest assured that these are not like that. While they don't quite feel exactly the same as the name brand, they feel nice and sturdy, and they reliably hold together well. This is a quality product. I saw one review that said that an 8yo would struggle with this. If your 8yo is bright and has brick-building experience, the only help they might need is with the tablet side of things. My 10yo boy and 12yo girl were both immediately on top of this box the second we opened it. We haven't done all the designs yet, but we've had not issues so far with the tech side of things. Much like others, the biggest issue has been dropping pieces. To minimize frustrations, setup is key. Ideally (if possible), do work on a large table over a non-carpeted floor under good lighting. Use the compartmented container that the pieces come in to sort the items, and add a few extra bowls for further sorting. Work on a low-pile towel, felt, or other slightly plush cloth, so those tiny screws won't roll into oblivion. Overall, this is a FANTASTIC little kit, and if it were the name-brand Danish company, it would be at least twice the price, so it's a steal, too. It would make a wonderful gift for any kid - why just boys? Girls love STEM, too!

Best building kit ever
This building kit is our family favorite. It is well designed and well made. The instructions are easy to follow. The projects are interesting and complex. The kit includes so much cool stuff: 389 building blocks, 2 motors, 2 LED lights, 1 infrared sensor and 1 color sensor. The two sensors can respond to distance and color separately. The color sensor has a new "color calibration" function. After calibration, the robot's response will be more sensitive and accurate. A tablet or smart phone, not included, is required. You will also need three AA batteries. The Apitor Kit App uses graphical Scratch 3.0 programming. Included are free introductory courses for kids to learn how to build, control and code. The user-friendly app is easy to find and to start using. Kids are acquiring valuable transferable skills playing with this toy, skills that will help them in school, work and life. The screws are very small and could easily get lost. Use a bright flashlight to locate them on the floor if any go missing. Put them in a container while you build! I'm a great believer in using a number of containers to sort and hold parts when working with building block sets.
