This book itself is quite difficult to follow for the old beginners like me. If you use this text with the DVD, "the Art of Vibrato", it works perfect! I don't have a private teacher now, but Dr. Fischbach explains how to approach the technique of vibrato.

Purchased for my 12-y-o daughter at the request of her instructor. It's not that she got excited about the book or anything, but she did read the first couple pages right away. She was able to talk about the various exercises and methods used for vibrato.
