Textbook of Medical Physiology Guyton and Hall. 11th Edition 2005
An excellent exegesis of medical physiology - in keeping with previous editions of this trreatise. Every facet of the subject is explained clearly and comprehensively. I recommend it unreservedly.

Brilliant
If only all medical textbooks were like this: clear, engaging and well written with great illustrations. Guyton himself said in a speech he gave that there could be no subject more interesting than physiology because nothing could be more interesting than the study of life. That passion come across in the book and it's a joy to read.

Has everything you need to know!
This is by far the best physiology book around! Use this and guytons pocket version and you need little else! The only problem is that sometimes it has too much detail but too much is better than too little! I found this book very helpful in studying pathophysiology as well.

Don't do it!
Don't get this - get Ganong! Guyton rambles on and repeats himself a lot. The pictures in Ganong are better, and the text in Ganong is much more succint, making it a lot easier to find the information you want. But if you like huge books which look good on your bookshelf, then Guyton would be a good one for you.
