After doing some research and review reading, I decided on this Moukey steel drum. Good sound was the critical factor for me, and I liked the idea of having the broader range of the 11 notes that this drum has. Some reviewers say that the tone is off, or it is not loud. I have not found that to be the case. The tone is excellent, and it is plenty loud. The drum's bag did have a strong odor, as some have noted- not nasty, but more like chemical-ish. As a result of that I've had the drum sitting out while the bag has been put aside and left open for the odor to dissipate. It does seem that the drum's tonal qualities have improved over the month that I've had it sitting out in the open, versus when I first opened it up. I've attributed that to it just settling in and acclimating to the temperature, perhaps. It takes a little practice to become competent with the sticks, but how you use them has a lot to do with the quality of sounds you can produce. Being loose at the wrist is better than stiff. I love the key that this drum comes in, as well as the eleven notes, as it's easy to come up with my own tunes. I just have to remember them! It does come with a little booklet of simple songs, which seem to be Chinese folk tunes. It will at least get you started in putting some melodic tones together. All in all I have quite a bit of fun with my drum, and I'm very pleased with my purchase.

I bought this as a gift for a friend who has a small percussion collection. When it arrived and I tried it out (I knew nothing about tongue drums at the time), i was sorely disappointed in the sound. I decided to give my friend something else instead and return the Moukey. Before i started to do the return, i tried playing with it a little more. Wow, then i found out how to properly hit the tongues and loved the sound. I had already given my friend another gift. So I decided to keep the Moukey for myself.Fast forward a bit and I bought actually bought a second one of these for my friend (it was on sale for 40% off) and swapped the other gift for this as he liked it better than the other gift.I have seen what looked like the exact same set on another site for $190 (down from ~$400).

I chose this one because I saw it on a review list and was able to find videos of this specific drum to hear how it sounded prior to buying it. I absolutely love it. For the first week I had it I used it every morning and even sometimes at night. I don't know a lot about music, and I've never played a tongue drum before, but this one has a really clear sound. You have to hit the tongues just right to get the sound to be clear like that but it wasn't that hard to figure out how to do and I expected it to take some effort to learn to get the right sound from an instrument. I didn't have any problems with the sticks, I thought the rubber made a really good sound. I like that it came with a carrying case. I worry about dust getting inside or about damaging it, and being able to store it in the case is helpful. It works the best on hard surfaces, but to get the clear sound on carpet I just put the drum on a notebook. The numbers seem to be printed on the instrument, not just stickers, so you don't have to worry about them peeling off.

The media could not be loaded.  I was interested in buying a steel drum and became aware of this instrument that I had never seen before. I purchased the version with eleven tones, and am pleased with what I received. The drum measures about 10 inches in diameter, stands about six inches tall, and came with two rubber tipped mallets that are a little over 8 inches long. The package was packed nicely, double boxed, and the drum was shipped inside the protective case with the second box. The soft protective case did come with a strap.All of the tongues produced nice tones, and within a few minutes of trying it out, the tones i was producing attracted the rest of my family who wanted to see what it was and try it themselves. This provided us an evening of entertainment and all commented on how nice it sounded. I found every tongue to ring clearly, and was able to perform rolls on them which provided a reasonable facsimile of a steel drum sound, at least close enough to serve my purpose.The finish of the drum was very nice, and the bottom featured three rubber feet that allowed it to sit level on a hard surface. I found it playable in my lap, on carpet, and on a hard surface with no notable difference in tone. As noted by other reviewers, the numbers on the tongues appear to be stickers. I wouldn't expect that you would use the numbers after getting acclimated to the instrument. Each tongue is a different physical size and hopefully you can see the arrangement of notes from the video I have posted. I would recommend this product to others.

Our family calls these “Panda Drums” and I gifted each one of my adult kids (along with myself) one of these for Christmas. I watched a u-tube review where the fellow said he’d waited for this companies drum to restock and it has just arrived, and once I finished the video I looked and they were still in stock. I made the decision my family needed more music during quarantine and jumped on it and ordered for everyone. I am very pleased with my decision. These drums are a very good value for the money, just as the reviewer said they were! They are easy to pull out and just start sounding out songs (or just playing nothing). I might keep one around to give as a spontaneous gift when I think someone needs a pick me up. I love these drums! The quality is just as the reviewer said it would be. Great decision. So fun!

I highly recommend this tongue drum. I can't say enuff about this drum. Easy to play even if you've never had a music lesson in your life. Take your time and get accustomed to each tongue. Play this drum like a pro in minutes. Fun for every member of the family. Calming, and beautiful tones. I love this drum so very much.💞💕💗💓💖

The media could not be loaded.  I received this tongue drum last night. I spent about 1/2 hour on it. I play string instruments but never played this before.The book that came with the set is USELESS. Don't think it even match this drum.The sound is OK . I expected a little better at this price range.So how easy it is to learn ? Very easy. I can arrange a song within 15 minutes (still need some editing so I am just playing a happy birthday tune here) . Any one thinking of buying , I recommend 11 notes . I already started looking for one that has more notes than this 11 notes. As a beginner, this is a decent starter.

From seeing other reviews, especially with videos attached, I chose this steel drum. It is lightweight and has good clear tones. I had no idea how to play and watched some tutorials. Now my meditation group friends say they love the addition of the Steel drum and noticed my playing has improved.At home I'll play for 20 minutes at a time and it helps calm the mind and its fun to get into the zone of creating different rhythms.

I initially got this instrument to be meant as a gift but lockdown oblige I ended up using it myself. The first time I started trying it I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth and beautiful the notes sound on it. Even just by going counter clockwise on all notes gives such a beautiful sound. I normally play guitar by I will learn how to master this instrument as It gives such a deep and pleasant zen music.

I've always been interested in learning a steel tongue drum so I bought this to start learning how to play with it. As a beginner this is a good buy. It comes with tuning instructions and a little music book. Perfect for meditation and produces zen music to the room which even my small kids love. Can be used with either fingers or the Mallets, but I prefer the mallets. Cool sounding.

Loved the sound, very engaging. My son has a drum kit and I thought he'd be interested in this. He played it and I and my family thought it was brilliant. He was not as interested, unfortunately, because every one really liked it, and rarely plays it. Nonetheless, my review is only a positive one as the drum was a hit with everyone else.
