The Earbuds That Help You Talk to Dragons (Or Just People Who Don't Speak Your Language)
I bought the Vasco Translator E1 earbuds because I figured if I ever encountered a raccoon who only spoke Spanish, Iâd need a way to communicate. Turns out, these earbuds arenât just for talking to raccoonsâtheyâre a game-changer for actual human conversations in over 50 languages.I tried them out on a trip to a place where my high school French and limited Spanish werenât cutting it. These earbuds translated everything seamlesslyâwell, almost. The raccoon in the backyard still wasnât quite willing to cooperate, but Iâm convinced thatâs more of a raccoon issue than a translation problem. The best part? Theyâre super compact and comfortable, so I could wear them all day without feeling like a tiger wearing headphones that are too big for its ears. And the translation is so fast, it almost feels like magicâlike Iâm suddenly fluent in languages I didnât even know existed. If only I could get them to help me understand why my cat acts like Iâm personally responsible for every mistake heâs ever made.Overall, this translator is a must-have for anyone who wants to break the language barrier, whether you're dealing with an international traveler or a confused raccoon that insists on stealing your snacks.[Disclaimer: This review is for "Vasco Translator E1 | Language Translator Earbuds with Over 50 Languages | 2025 Model". Things to be aware of
Before you buy, there's a lot to unpack before you buy...Modes:There are two modes. Both modes are push to talk.- One mode requires all participants of the conversation to have ear pieces. Each person must push on the earbud while they are talking. What they say will then get translated to the other participants ears in their own languages.- The other mode allows you to capture what is said on your smartphone by pushing the mic button to hear what they are saying. With this mode you can ask someone to say something, and it will translate it for you. You do constantly have to hit the mic button on to start listening. To begin translating, the speaker needs to stop for a sec, or you need to turn off the mic.Ear Pieces:You get two ear pieces and are required to download an app to your phone. Both ear pieces are for the right ear. Each person in the conversation gets one. Each earbud has a setting for the language of choice.Price model:I believe that the ear pieces tell the app that you paid for their product because most of the work happens in the app. Other companies might have a monthly/yearly subscription fee instead. So you get the up front pricing model, which is fine, but has it's limitations.I'd like to be able to use it with my normal ear buds, but believe that they want you to use their device for the reason above.Translating:- All of the translating that I've done has come in well.- It does take about 3 seconds for the messages to translate.- You translate small amounts of messages at a time. It waits until the message is over before it translates.- It has plenty of languages, and just about any language you will need these for.Quality:This product feels like it is high quality. The charging case is pretty neat and useful in the fact that it separates into two cases, one for each ear bud. It charges the ear buds. There's also a bag to keep the case safe. It all feels high quality, however, each side of the case is bound by magnets that easily separate. This means that they can easily separate when you have it packed.. The included bag will help keep them together. What I would like:- I'd like to translate constantly without having to hit the mic button. I'd like it to be able to listen into a conversation that my inlaws are having without constantly having to hit the mic button on and off. I'd like to be able to translate a TV show. Hopefully future updates allow for this. It may be limited right now due to the the amount of overhead their AI translation servers would receive if we had those abilities.- I'd like to get the translations in 1 second or less, rather than the current 3 seconds. Also, this could improve on it's own in the future, or with future updates.

Not as good as other reviewers state
Bought product and I have used it with a spanish speaking person. It was multiple times that this product does not recognize our voices with 'push to talk' and 'conversation' options. Very frustrating for the price. I'm returning it!

This is really cool
It's really impressive how far this kind of tech has come. It actually works. It's not perfect, as you still need to press the button and there is a small delay of a few seconds, but it is far better than any other alternative that I've found so far.

Impressive piece of technology and coding to translate languages using earbuds and phone.
This is a pricey but impressive piece of technology, with a couple of confusing design choices. It's basically a pair of earbuds that allow real time translation of spoken language between two people, each using the app and one of the ear buds or even just the app. I tested this with listening to Spanish language television programming and the translation was terrific. The only glitch I had was I needed to tell it to translate by pressing a control on the screen rather than it translating in real time. Still , it was very impressive, as it kept pace with someone who was speaking very quickly in Spanish, something that often gives me trouble to follow along.I can see this as being a useful tool for language students, and not just for travelers. While learning Spanish and French, I often remembered my vocabulary but had trouble hearing individual words from native speakers when they talked at might be a normal rate for them, but sounded fast for me. With this, I could see the words in Spanish while the TV personality spoke and could follow along much better than usual. This is a terrific product that I'm going to have to learn to use better. If I find out any better insights, I'll post an update, but I suggest anyone considering this to spend some time learning from tutorials as this could be a game changer for travelers and students. The one thing I'm confused about is why the buds seem to have separate cases but share a charging port. Maybe I'm missing something. The manual is very thick, but there are only about 8 pages for each language, just a lot of languages in the same manual.
