Very classy looking bookends. Looks great on my bookshelf.

I have one of those narrow plastic trolleys in a gap between my cooker and a half depth wall. I keep baking trays in the bottom tray but they didn't stand upright and kept hitting the wall when I wheeled it back in. It's been driving me nuts for years. Light bulb moment ! Book ends ! These are 100% perfect, well made and inexpensive. No more hitting the wall and they can easily be used elsewhere if I rearrange my kitchen storage anytime, which is unlikely. Book ends are not just for books.

I requested these to replace a very old set of bookends that don't tuck under the books - meaning one walks off the open end of the shelf if books are pushed in roughly. I like that these DO tuck under by quite a reasonable depth (a couple of thick paperback books each), meaning the end books hold them in place. This also means they have no bulk to take up space on the width of the shelf, so we can get more books on as well. The piece that sits under the books has 4 pads on it to stop the bookend slipping or scratching the surface it's on. These feel to be a good quality, and unlikely to come off easily. The cut-out design on them is attractive, but unfortunately one of the upright edges on one of ours has a rough finish. Had I purchased these, I would have returned them and ordered replacements in the hope we'd get a set without that problem. But we're going to make sure we always put them in place such that this edge is against the wall so there's no chance of anyone scratching themselves on it. I've tried to show this roughness in my photos, but it's been hard to get decent pictures. The area in question is between the coloured lines. Without that problem I would have been happy to pay the current £8.99 for these, as they're neat and serve the intended purpose without taking up valuable shelf space.

Why did you choose this product over others?: They look nice and came quickly but unfortunately not heavy duty at all. Maybe only suitable for a couple of books or very light books
