FiiO BT11 Portable Lossless Bluetooth Transmitter (Silver)

Once you get the update and settings sorted…can be a bit erratic…it seems brilliant…especially with iPhone…now getting LDAC.

it simply is very BUGGY!!!. My previous experiences with FiiO are fantastic, both for sound quality and device quality. But this BT11 is something else, it feels like something you get from AliExpress for £2. you get link to some Chinese youtube video explaining how to connect. But when connected there is no sound from my Momentum 4 headphones, I then tried another headphones that supports LDAC and that worked but only briefly, as soon as I switched back to Aptx Adoptive the BT11 device got bricked, it didn't respond to my phone or windows pc or my Chromebook. Then after 10 min it started working again but also very briefly until I switched between codecs and it's got bricked again. Sending this back

Some of the Bluetooth codecs this is supposed to have do not work with my equipment, despite that equipment having the correct codecs to pair. (Both devices need the codec in order to pair.) It has a good range and once paired it is good at maintaining the connection. Albeit at the lower definition codecs. In my experience it is not uncommon for dongles to have this issue. I switched to another premium dongle and those codecs paired perfectly. I did not send it back as it is otherwise a very good BT dongle.

This little transmitter is capable of getting a great sound if you have high quality bluetooth headphones using some of the higher quality codecs. I'd give it 5 stars for that aspect. It's excellent. Both the controls on my earbuds and the phone work as I'd imagine when playing music. Great so far. Now for the less impressive bits.. The little 'throat' between the USB connector and the body of the transmitter is so short that the device won't fit into my iPhone unless I take the case off. So if you have no case, that's fine. If not you'll need to get a little USB extender. It's far from intuitive to set up. To be frank, if you're not someone who has a reasonable degree of technical knowledge you may end up sending these back. I personally found the documentation / support video almost no help in initially setting the device up, though once I'd managed to set it up, the support video is more helpful in understanding the hoops through which you may have to jump to keep it working through multiple sessions. Each time I decide to listen through my earbuds it's a bit of a performance. It's quite hard to understand why, but with a bit of persistence you can get it working. I now have a multistep process which gets the device / earbuds paired and connected to whatever sound source I'm using. But it's certainly not 'plug and play', far from it. Sadly I don't think that's good enough. So what could have been a 5 star review in terms of performance and how they enable you to get the best from some high quality bluetooth earphones, is reduced by a 1 star review for ease of setup and repeated usability. A real pity.

Great sound and easy to set up. So compact and easy to transport.

Using with iPhone and Sony WH-1000XM6 simply won’t stay connected for long enough to enjoy - constant drop outs. Too much hard work, not easy to use. Don’t waste your time and money on this, certainly if you are using with the above equipment. Might be different with android and other headphones, but I had to return. I’ll stick with AAC for now

Once I connected to my iPhone 15 and MacBook Pro transmitting to my Sony WH-1000 XM6 headphones. the sound quality was excellent. The Sony SoundConnect App confirmed my headphones were receiving the high quality LDAC codec. The sound quality deserves a solid 5 stars but I have deducted 1 star because the BT11 software is a bit temperamental and counterintuitive at the start. Once initially set up, it’s a breeze to use. I’m using the latest software v1.09. Hopefully, future software updates will address the ease of setup issues, whereupon I will update my review.

Horrible. Does not work. Waste of a good few hours trying to make it work, and a waste of money.

Funktioniert auch am Mac oder iPhone nach etwas probieren. Die Hersteller App gibt es zwar im App Store, die ist aber nicht für den Mac. Auf dem iPhone funktioniert sie nicht. Man ist also auf das automatische koppeln und aushandeln des entsprechenden Bluetooth Protokolls angewiesen. Das funktioniert am Besten, in dem man in der direkten Umgebung alles abschaltet, womit sich der Adapter sonst koppeln könnte und dann das zu koppelnde Gerät (in meinem Fall Kopfhörer) dicht daneben legt. Dann den Adapter am Computer/iphone einstecken und den Kopfhörer danach auf koppeln stellen. Es wird dann das bestmögliche Protokoll ausgehandelt und das Dongle speichert das dann für das gekoppelte Gerät. Die Anzeige des ausgehandelte Protokolls zeigt das fiio über die Farbe des LED Lichts an. Da lohnt es, sich ein paar Videos oder Produktbilder anzuschauen, um rauszukriegen, wie die Farben denn wirklich aussehen sollen. Alles in allem also irgendwie kompliziert, nicht intuitiv, etwas von Zufällen abhängig, keine Steuerung möglich und die Anzeige nicht optimal. Warum also fünf Sterne? Weil ich damit für einen wirklich schmalen Preis ein Apple Gerät mit einem hochwertigen BT-Protokoll mit einem Endgerät koppeln kann. In meinem Fall Sony Kopfhörer mit LDAP.

Much better after firmware upgrade!

It worked really well until I did the firmware update to 1.0.9. I think the update just completely bricks it and the company hasn’t fixed it yet. The sound quality was great with my XM5s, shame that the firmware is the problem. The control app is also pretty bad, great value for money, just wish FiiO would hurry up and work out the kinks. I did order a replacement and am seeing if FiiO’s support can help me with it but I think if I get the replacement I’m just not gonna update it.

I originally bought this for permanent use on my computer (both on Windows 10 and Linux). You can clearly see that this product wasn't made for that specific use case, as I shortly started experiencing all kinds of technical and audio-related issues with it. Was about to send it back, when I gave it a try on my phone - and that's where all of the magic happens. It just works and it does what's being promised in the description. I decided to keep it and still give it a 4/5 because I figured most people probably aren't going to use it on a desktop/laptop anyway.

I use it, but my ears don't hear any changes. In my opinion, this is a pointless purchase.
