It's a plastic jar & they are very nice toffees

Are these soft and chewy or should I be looking at another type of licorice?

Hi, The toffees are hard enough to suck at the beginning, and then soften and become chewy like any other good quality toffee, and then melt away in your mouth. they are delicious and taste of natural liquorice not just flavoured sugar. Be warned though they are very addictive.

Do these have a long best before date as looking to buy for Christmas?

Hi Julie Yes they do have a long best before date purchased my jar in June and there good till next May 2018 not that there will be any left 😁😁
