Effective. I just struggle a little to ensure the gel pouches (there are two) are frozen nice and flat to fit the metal plate snugly on top.

Absolutely NOT "crystal" clear plastic!
The description of this item boasts about its high quality and manufacturing standards, and states that it uses "crystal" plastic for the lid. What I received was the complete opposite.There were hundreds of fine scuff marks/rings in the plastic, as you can see from my photos. The black clips which hold the lid on to the sides feel flimsy and one had become detached during shipping.Additionally the quality of the plastic feels cheap and the white tray does not look at all appealing; it reminds me of a school dinner tray.Finally the description says "silver handles" but mine were black plastic as you can see in the photographs.Honestly this item should be sold at £10-15 and absolutely no more!
