why knotweed? I thought it was suppose to come from grapes? help!

What you thought is an absolute myth. It is not the source, but the TRANS-Resveratrol content that matters. In the 1980s, a study found that people in France suffer fewer heart attacks than people in the USA. Since the French people are known as wine drinkers, the scientists associated the phenomenon with wine, which contains resveratrol. However, that does not mean wine or grapes are the only plants that contain resveratrol. As a matter of fact, peanuts, blueberries, Japanese knotweed, and other plants contain even higher concentrations of resveratrol. More than 95% of resveratrol sold in the world is obtained from Japanese knotweed, not from grapes. Japanese knotweed root has a much higher concentration of resveratrol than grapes (which contain less than 1mg per cup). In addition, unlike grapes, Jap[anese knotweed is a weed that grows in the wild and contains higher concentrations of trans-resveratrol. Prior to processing, knotweed can be stored at room temperature, while grapes need to be kept frozen. Because of the high cost of producing resveratrol from grapes, grape resveratrol is only available in the purity of 5%-8%. Japanese knotweed is available at purity of almost 100%. Beware of products labeled “Made with grape resveratrol.” Most of those products are worthless. Usually, a minuscule amount(a few milligrams) of low-purity grape, resveratrol is added to low-purity knotweed resveratrol, a product which is low in price but also ineffective. Its another marketing gimmick to intentionally mislead consumers for the sole purpose of monetary gain. It’s clear that the source of resveratrol is not what matters, what is important is knowing the purity of the product you are purchasing. Remember, it’s the amount of trans-resveratrol that counts, not the source of the product.

Why is the price $93 when I bought in November for $51?

You purchased either 250mg- 120 caps (30 grams) or 500 mg -60 caps (30 grams). This product is 500 mg, 120 caps (60 grams).

Is this vegetable based?

Mega Resveratrol is 100% natural and 100% vegetarian. Mega Resveratrol uses vegetarian capsules and is excipients free (NO "Inactive ingredients" added). Mega Resveratrol (as most resveratrol on the market) is derived from Japanese Knotweed, which has higher concentrations of TRANS-resveratrol (the active and beneficial compound in resveratrol). Grape resveratrol is significantly more expensive to purify and its only available in purity of up to 10%. Beware of products labeled “Made WITH Grape Resveratrol.” A minuscule amount (a few milligrams) of lowest-purity grape resveratrol is added to a low-purity knotweed resveratrol, a product which is low in price but also in effectiveness. It’s another marketing gimmick to intentionally mislead consumers. It doesn't matter what is the source of resveratrol, what matters is the TRANS-resveratrol content- 20%, 50%, 99%, etc..

"Why expensive"? If you find PURE TRANS-resveratrol for less please let us know. Any product that is lower in price is either low in purity or it's fake (and many of these fake products are listed on Amazon as "Pure Resveratrol" for $20 to $30). Read the Supplement fact label carefully. Trans-resveratrol content or percentage should always be indicated on the label. If it's not, I wouldn't purchase it. You should ask them "Why Cheap" rather than ask us "why expensive".
