Older macbooks had this wonderful feaqture. The charging cable was connected by a magnet, so if someone yanked on the cable, there was a good chance that the macbook would fall to the floor and get damaged.Loved that feature. Then Apple got rid of it.This product basically brings that feature back, and allows it to be used on any latop or tablet etc - anything with a USB-c port.I just go this item. My review is just about how strong the magnet coupling is.It is *strong*. I have this magnetic usb-c adapter coupled to my MacBook, and my charging cable is handing three feet to the ground, which some real weight on the magnetized coupling. It is holding the cable without any problem at all. If I yank on the cable, it just disconnects. All in all, it looks really good.My only concern is whether I ordered enough of this product. May buy another pair of these adapters.In short, if you have kids or teenagers, or work in a cafe, or office where cables can get yanked, this is definitely a product worth getting. For a small amount of money, you can protect an expensive laptop or tablet etc.

These are a bit smaller than you'd think from the marketing materials. Yet they are extremely well made. For instance, the magnetic connection's stronger than the hinge. So the hinge actually works. They also look pretty durable.Which is good- I'm using them as strain relief. My cables keep dying on me. By putting this at that joint, my hope is that the magnet will just momentarily detach instead of wear at the cable. So far, it's been working, and the detaches haven't been annoying or anything- the magnets have a decently strong hold

This is a great adapter if all you want is to charge something. Solid mechanical connection that holds while you move your device but releases smoothly if tugged and does support high power charging.It also works for media, like USB storage, but I recommend against it because the easy disconnect could end up corrupting your media.It does not work for display port / monitor connection. That would have been perfect for me. If I could just use one of these at the office and home and easily switch between the two sites. But the laptop doesn't recognize monitors when connected with this adapter.

Finally got a magnetic adapter that actually works for me. I have tried straight ones and 90 degree ones and they all disconnect too easily, but these work great and I am going to order more.

DO NOT BUY THIS !! The purpose of this product is to protect your phone if you trip on the cord or knock your phone off the table or wherever it's at when it's plugged in and charging. I had this device plugged into my phone while sitting on my nightstand. I got up from my bed and my arm pulled on the cable. It should have broke away to keep my phone from falling or damaging the plug. The phone fell and hit the floor. It evidently landed right on this piece. When I picked up the phone and looked at it the part that plugs into the phone is bent. It no longer charges so it's broke. What is worse though is when I plug my cord directly in the phone now the plug wobbles. So it damaged the inside of my phone. Now that it wobbles it's eventually going to break inside the phone. So now I have to look for another phone it's not worth getting it fixed. DO NOT BUY!

This adapter works well with a secure fit. There is no danger of the tiny plug falling out of the usb-c port. The magnetic connection is a good balance of strength where is holds on well but disconnects easily if yanked. This adapter brings great peace of mind. I've killed a usb-c charging port from abuse in the past, but with this adapter I'm not worried about that happening again.

The adapters themselves appear to be well constructed, but the packaging makes me suspicious of the actual quality.I ordered 2 sets, and they came in different packaging:- One package has the Vafoton branding on it (same name as the Amazon store selling this)- The other is nameless generic accessories package - it's the exact sort of packaging often used for cheap knock-off electronic accessories from China - and both of them are clearly labeled Made in China.Due to the cheap price and cheap generic packaging, I'm inclined to distrust the product specifications. A genuine - and safe - 240W adapter at this price point is just difficult to believe. (And the fact that there are several other product listings from "other companies" using the *exact* same product images suggests that the same item is being cheaply made and marked up under various brand names)The adapters do function, but I'll never use it for anything more than the 45W needed for fast-charging my mobile devices.For anyone else with a Samsung Galaxy phone, just FYI - although it's very small, the magnet is strong enough that while it's plugged in the stylus doesn't reliably work on the bottom inch of the screen, and you'll occasionally get the Android system popup message about magnetic accessories interfering with it.I think I'll just stick to using these for charging my earbuds

Like that I can have my tablet in the landscape position while charging. The indicator light is also nice so you can tell that your device is being charged.
