Key Words: 3b Boys and girls

A brilliant series for teaching children how to read. My children who are just learning to read, love them and the beautiful illustrations that accompany the text. Also it is nice for children to read books that are just about everyday life and things they can relate to. I would highly recommend this series to anyone who would like to teach their children to read.

The Ladybird key words scheme is so well structured. I used it initially, in 1975 to help one of my struggling Sunday School scholars. At age 8½ her reading age was 5½; by age 9 her reading age was 9. We then taught our own children, before they went to school, with great success and enjoyment. Now we use the scheme to help second-language speakers with their English reading and comprehension.

Although the illustrations are a bit old- fashioned and there is definitely a girl/boy divide in the story lines, these books are so valuable for practising key words and building reading skills.Has Ladybird considered updating them? My little boy actually picks these up voluntarily! The size is just right for little hands too.

I shall continue buying these books - my grandson is reading really well using these - my sons used the same books when they were learning to read - can't beat them!!! Thank You.

Lovely book to follow on from Key Words 2b. Good clear text, wonderful illustrations. Young children will leave the contest.

Love the large font and pictures. My daughter loves learning to read with this set and likes the main characters jane, peter and pat. Learned words quicker pushing this set than with her phonics collection.

Modern version of the standard used for decades. I recommend it strongly.

This series of books is a great aid to child learning, and already a 4 year old grandson is showing real progress after teaching sessions using them.
