Great block for the price
I love my Dapping block! Its affordable and works well for my needs. I like it better than metal blocks for the sound, however you deal with side effects like your metal diecuts being stuck in your wood on occasion (ok kinda often) but still, I am happy with my wood block and very happy that it comes with not one but two punches! ;-PIts also great for those who don't know if they really need a dapping block, or don't need one very often. This is an expensive one you can grab and test or keep it for those rare moments you do need it. Even if you get a metal one later you will still find use for your wooden one, I like it for my late night projects I can do without waking everyone lol, but also I like the texture it leaves on my metal. Its different than metal on metal for sure. Not to mention in places like where I live with high humidity, close to salt water, rust gets on EVERYTHING, my wood block happily sits there requiring little maintenance... on occasion I give it a little coconut oil (fractionated) and its happy as a clam.I highly recommend this block and hope you enjoy it !Mahalo!

Inexpensive, Good Quality Dapping Block and 2 Punches for Coin Ring Making
I purchased this Wooden Dapping Block to make coin rings with because the wood doesn't affect the coin's design like a metal dapping block would. The 2 punches that come with it work well, and the whole setup is good for soft metals and coin dapping, although, eventually, I want more than just 4 options of sizing to bend with, so I'll be purchasing an metal dapping block anyhow.

Inexpensive and good
This Dapping Block was one of the least expensive I could find. Since I did not know what to look for in a dapping block, having never used one before, I went on price alone. It is a great block and it has had the right size indentions for all of the metal blanks I use. If you are going to use large metal blanks you may need a larger block but you should be able to tell that by the measurements given in the description.

Nice forming block.
Nice forming block. Works as expected. Wish the tooks were longer & at least one base was bigger!

Great for the beginner, hobbyist or professional metalsmith, clockmaker, watchmaker or jeweler.
This is a great doming block for someone whom is just getting started with metalsmithing and/or jewelry making. It's wood, so keep in mind that it's only useable on soft metals such as pure silver (not silver alloys), copper, gold, aluminum, brass etc. Thinner gauges of material of course. It will not mar the finish if you are cautious. I, personally like it because it's compact and fits well into my clockmakers house call box, and I've used it for repairing dents in plates or even for truing wheels. I steel dapping set wouldn't work as well in this regard as it would either mar the material, or over work the piece if you're too aggressive. For the price, this far exceeded my expectations. I'll most likely purchase another set as a spare very soon.

Good quality and helpful for ensuring metals don't tarnish other metals
This works great for my metal stamping. I like that it's wood so that my metals don't get tarnished by other metal. It does of course indent a little with some metal pieces in it. That may bother some but for me it has not been a problem.

Beginners block
This dapping block is made from a "soft" hard wood as it marks very easily. It is fine for hobby work but the marks will transfer to your metal if it has been marred during use.

If shopping for a steel dapping block, try this first!
When I first started shopping for dapping blocks, I focused only on steel ones, as those are the ones I see people using the most. But, as a newbie to metalwork & jewelry-making, and limited budget, I decided to give this set a try. This meets my needs completely! I think the only reason I might some day buy a steel one is for the purpose of making smaller/tighter domes. I'm pleased with this product, and the price was right.
