This is a such a cute little gift to craft with your kids. Once you get all of the sand and unicorns in the terrarium it looks great. My daughter couldn't wait for it to be bedtime to sit and watch at how it would light up. It has definitely captivated her attention and she just sits and stares at it. That said, the kit has a lot of fun factored into the tiny terrarium—2 colors of magic sand, 2 dinosaur eggs, 4 dinosaurs, a mountain, tree and cactus, plus a reversible backdrop and a light in the terrarium box with a remote. A child can have fun creating their dinosaur habitat and then using the remote with it’s 15 different lighting effects at night. What child doesn’t like playing with a remote? I like that the kit is non-toxic and the sand is moldable. This would make a great gift.

The set has 3 basic elements to it:- A few packs of kinetic/magic sand, the stuff that sticks together- A package of 3” or so dinosaur models and plant/egg accessories, and I think there was some sort of volcano or big rock- A plastic light up terrariumThe sand is good, and what you would expect, and very much similar to the other commercial magic sand products out there, holds together well, but might still get ground into carpets if you have that kind of kid.The dinosaurs are a little on the small side, but I can understand that given the notion of creating a terrarium, they’ll need to fit after all.The terrarium is about a 1-2 litre volume, with lights and a remote control. It provides good enough illumination and has good control with the remote. The only problem I really have is that this is for ages 3 and up, and I’m not sure I really want to give a little kid a remote to loose. Then at the same time, there’s no way to control the lights without said remote.As for pricing, a bit much at MSRP, but if you can find it at about $25 CAD (~18 USD) with coupon, as it was when I wrote this, then it’s definitely a good deal, as just a pack of magic sand will run you around $15-20.

The sand is easily mouldable and does a good job staying where you want it to. The led on the container does a great job acting as a nightlight, or showcasing the mermaids inside. Our daughter loves staring into the terrarium!Having a remote for control of the light has been great for making sure it isn’t being turned on by our daughter, and us not having the control to turn it off as well.This little kit was a lot of fun to build and our daughter loves it!

Got this for my 8 yr old that loves dinosaurs and was a little disappointed that one of the plastic pieces that holds the dinosaur card in place was broken so the double sided dinosaur cardboard card wouldn't sit nicely. Other than that it's a pretty neat craft. That being said space is a little tight to place all the items nicely. It requires batteries so make sure you have some on hand. My son loved that it came with a remote control to change the lights. We love crafts that serve a purpose and aren't just created then tossed. This craft is proudly on display in his room.
