First off if you are expecting to start this and get ice straight away, as if it were an ice making fridge then you will be disappointed. WIE themselves in the title say that it takes 6 minutes to create 9 ice 'bullets'Secondly the marketing says to leave the ice maker for 12 hours before first use, but the manual says 2 hours after cleaning. This almost certainly will be to allow the refrigerant to settle, just as with any fridge or freezer. I tried the latter last night and it worked fine, but then left it till this morning when I have running this ice maker for over 4 hours, during which time I have been able to confirm it stops and shows the appropriate alert when it is out of water else the ice collector is full.Visually there is little difference between small and large size pieces, however from experimenting, if you change the setting it does not take effect until the next complete ice make, this includes if you stop and restart the machine. There is no apparent difference in height though I do find variation within one batch, however the larger pieces are actually wider and from testing the weight, use about 20% more water.With the long run today I have plugged the maker in via a smart monitor and you can see from the graph it uses just 0.13kWh, which is for 10 batches, so 420-500g of ice. Thus only half a kWh for a couple of KG of ice - compared to the £1.30 to £1.50 you will pay in a UK supermarket for the same amount.Over all this is all about being able to prepare for summer BBQs and parties (or New Years Eve and X-Mas perhaps?). Unless you have a lot of freezer space and ice trays, it is a lot quicker than using those (plus you just dump the ice in a bag then in to your freezer for storage) and over a quid cheaper each time than buying it, though you will need a lot of ice to justify the machine purchase price. In many respects you are paying for convenience.
