Pyrex 8021705 Classic Prepware Expert Bowl, White, 4.2 L

Pyrex heat-resistant glass wear has been going for 111 years, there is a valid reason for that, they are suitable for freezing and oven baking. I have used Pyrex for years and it stands the test of time for sure! I use if for bread making snd this bowl is ideal for bulk fermenting. The bowl is wide and very stable when mixing, due to its tapered shape. Not too heavy either! I liked the price too! Overall good quality product with a respected brand

I LOVE this mixing bowl!! With the usual 'Pyrex' clear, heat- resistant, tough glass, this bowl is going to beca real workhorse in my kitchen! It has a wider section on the rim, to serve as a decent grip/handle when using the bowl, a nice pouring lip for looser batters and a great little quirky 'flat' section at an angle on the base- to keep the bowl stable when you need to tilt it to whip/whisk or stir!! It is a decent size for most jobs, with plenty of room for movement as it were!! But note that - for those used to working with plastic bowls - it is quite heavy to move around, (not a bad thing in my opinion as it makes it much more stable and solid in use!) I am really looking forward to many years of cooking and baking iwith this beauty!!

Feels sturdy when using it, nice capacity and the pouring spout is a bonus. My product did arrive with a slight chip on the lip, but I personally didn't mind as I don't use it often enough for it to bother me.

Mostly I use this when making bread or large batches of biscuits and the bowl is PERFECT. Recently I decided to use it to strain a big batch of broth into the bowl and then, ideally, to pour from the bowl into wide-mouth canning jars. DON'T, just DON'T. That "pour spout" is awful for runny liquids. Within 2.5 seconds, I had hot broth running over my hand, all over the counter, down the front of the double oven (yes, running both inside and outside the glass doors!) and pooling on the floor. What a mess not to mention the burning skin.

Brilliant mixing bowl with pouring lip. Over the moon, with the value for money. Harts of Stur are a fantastic supplier - they delivered next day... Simply outstanding service. As the design and ease of use, is so good, it's tempting to give away my older mixing bowls or replacing them with this style. I need to check how many different sizes this style is offered in.

This is a really good bowl, excellent for what it is designed to do. What it is not so great for is doing what it is not designed to do. So the person who reviewed it claiming it was a misleading advert because it's capacity is only 2.4 litres, not 4.2 is simply wrong. No doubt he was confusing what it measures (2 litres) with its capacity (which is the total amount it holds when filled to the top) which is more than 4 litres, because I measured it up to 4 litres. So feel free to ignore his 1 star review, it really isn't that helpful. Also the person, who admittedly gave it 4 stars, but thought it was a silly design decision to make the brim too wide to fit in his microwave, because he/she needed to heat a litre of sauces and have room for boiling. Well, they certainly had that, over 3 litres worth of room. I'm not sure the designers were the ones making a silly decision though, since the broad brim to the bowl is very visible in the photos and the measurements of the bowl are available to read if you bother looking for them. Perhaps the 2L pyrex mixing bowl would have been a more appropriate purchase? Especially as the reviewer said they don't use the measurement markings anyway. So, if you want a good (4+l) size mixing bowl, with the ability to measure up to 2 litres and the benefit that it can be tilted for better mixing and has a nice, broad lip to get a good grip of then this is a brilliant bowl for you. If you want something else, I suggest you do your research, engage your brain and buy that other thing. Don't just buy this anyway, then review it poorly because you bought the wrong thing. Just sayin'. :-)

I bought these few months ago, with regular daily use in hot and cold mixing environments, they still look perfect
