Serves its purpose
The idea of a power bank within a compact mirror is quite a novel one, and useful to have a double function. However, this power bank could do with a few improvements before I would wholeheartedly recommend it.At first sight, it seems a rather cumbersome gadget. I’ve been carrying it around in my bag, and it is a bit heavy compared with others I’ve used. To be honest, it’s not that attractive, either. Whenever I take it out, I get a lot of comments about ‘what on earth is that?’. However, most seem impressed when they see it’s not only a phone charger, but a mirror as well! The battery life on here seems to last for a couple of days only. There have been a few times when I have been caught out and tried to charge my phone, only for it to be charged about 1% before the power bank dies. So make sure you charge it up every few days. That said, it is only a topping up facility, and for that, it is very useful. I managed to charge my iPad to 7% after it had died completely, enough to check a couple of things (and then the power bank ran out of power). The mirror is useful, too. It has two light settings – a blue LED light, and a white light that brightens up one of the mirrors. The magnified mirror is great for checking makeup etc. When you charge the power bank, the blue light flashes constantly. It is irritating. The covers on the charging ports seems to be thin bits of silicone or plastic which look like they could easily break off. There is no direct iPhone charging socket so I have to charge via a USB adapter. It seems quite pricey to me, and maybe if the unit was available in other colours or designs, it might be more attractive. Rather clinical and bulky, but not bad overall.

Powerbank in disguise!
This is an interesting little device; a 2-in-1 illuminated mirror and powerbank. I've never seen anything quite like it. It's clearly aimed at those who wear makeup or just need to check how gorgeous they are on a regular basis. The design is quite nice with a smooth finish to the exterior and nice glossy interior. The lights are quite bright and more than enough for any situation. The mirror accurately reflects light, which to be honest is all you can ask of it. You get a microUSB cable, but Lightning connectors will work with the USB port fine. The battery is rated at 3000mAh, and for cheap products like this you can basically assume it will be slightly less than that, particularly after a few charge cycles. It's still going to be good enough to fully charge most phones, which is all it's ever going to be used for. Leave it charged up in you purse or glove compartment in case you're caught short when going out. If not used it will take about a month before any serious power discharge, so it's not like you need to recharge it all the time. This is not a QuickCharge or other fast-charging device, but will charge you phone over a couple of hours. One advantage of the small battery is it cuts down on weight, which can be important if you carry it in your purse all day.Overall I would say this is an interesting and potentially very useful hybrid device. Four stars.

A handy little device
This is a really nice idea that's reasonably well executed. As a multi-purpose device it does both functions - vanity mirror and power-bank - nicely enough, and is a very handy little device to have on you.The build quality is just about ok, it does feel a little flyweight - and one of the mirrors fell out on first opening... it stuck back in firmly enough and hasn't detached since - but the plastics seem durable enough. As a mirror it's fine, and the light is a handy addition that a lot of similar mirrors don't have. The bundled wire (micro USB to USB) isn't compatible with iPhones, but simply using a lightning to USB cable (as in the one you get with your phone) works perfectly well.At 3000mAh it's very much on the smaller side for a power-bank, and I've found it roughly manages a 90%+ charge for both the iPhone 7 and Xs - so absolutely worth having on-hand for a quick recharge, but it's not something that could be relied on for longer periods away from a wall charger, or indeed for devices with bigger batteries. If you're looking for something to have in your bag that's good for a quick phone pick-me-up over the course of a day then this is fine. If you're after a weekender power-bank that can deliver a few charges then a dedicated device of 10000mAh+ would be better suited.

Mirror/lights/power bank
This HoMedics compact is a whole bunch of things in one - mirror (both normal and magnifying as a normal compact would have), power bank and lights. It comes with a cable and charges by USB, having jacks for both the normal USB (for when charging another device from it), and micro-USB (for when it's plugged in to charge itself). The mirrors are surrounded by a ring of LED white lights which mean you can use the mirror no matter the time of day or night. I'm honestly not sure when I would need to look in the mirror in the dark to put on my makeup! I'm much more likely to need a torch. It's bulkier than I thought it would be, and I feel like it doesn't need to be - I've got a power bank that is extremely compact (haha). This is much thicker, larger and heavier than a normal compact, but also more than a power bank. I don't find it elegant and the design feels actually a bit matronly. This could definitely be prettier. At £20 it's certainly a bit pricey for what is essentially either a glorified compact/power bank/torch. It does all its jobs and I'm sure I'll use it a great deal as a power bank, but I'm not sure that as a product it really does something important that isn't done better individually by each item!
