My Miata has a center console lock that no longer works with the key. So I decided it would be a great idea to drill out the hole for the lock larger and to install a USB charging port in its place. Being waterproof also has a benefit for me, as my Miata is a convertible. I like the peace of mind that if I get caught in a rainstorm, water won't fall into my charging port.I highly recommend this product!

I ordered these to instal in my boat and realized after purchasing them that they have female connectors on each end.. My fault for ordering, but I'm usually pretty good at what I'm looking at. Seamed a bit misleading.. I decided I can make them work by ordering the 12V to 5amp converters (which I though these had built in) and separate lengths of usb male to male cables.. Now after installing them I see the covers that are designed to protect the plugs when not in use are very low quality and dont unscrew easily at all. Not sure in what application these are made for, but I'm going a different direction and ordering the USB that are prewired to accept pos & neg from the battery.

This is a plastic bulkhead adapter for a USB connector - each one has one cap, which has a seal inside, and the bulkhead adapter seals using the rubber o-rings. The assembly comes with the tether secured under the gland nut, which would require a fairly smooth bulkhead and would not work as well on uneven surfaces. The O-rings could be used instead, to provide a better seal on the material, but caution needs to be taken to ensure that the o-rings are not over tightened, causing them to deform and lose seal as there are no grooves to retain them in place.The USB transmits data and works at USB 3 speeds.There are some fit and finish issues, burrs on the threading etc, but overall, this is sufficient for most uses.The whole assembly is not waterproof unless the cap is tight, and you cannot use it in wet conditions. If it gets wet, water could leak through the USB port into the other side.

These are nice usb pads throughs. Great for all kinds of projects. I really like that it includes o rings. You get two at a very good price.

Nice rubber gaskets on both sides. This will work perfect to extend the USB-A connector on the back of my Radio / media player on my boat to the Dash for easy access. My stereo just came with a USB-A port hanging off the back. I got sick of reaching under the dash to plug in my music. I got this and a cable to extend the USB-A port to the Dash board. Easy install, drill a 1 inch hole and ready to go.

I am building a Malware scanner into a Pelican case, and needed a way to hook up the suspected drive to the internal Raspberry Pi, these panel connectors fit the bill, and will work perfect for my project. They look well made, and will be very easy to install.

The included gaskets seem up to the task of maintaining the waterproof rating. The USB ports work. Good value for the price.
