The powder gives good volume and hold, and the comb is better than I expected for styling. Solid addition to my morning routine. The price is a downside, I feel like I may be paying a premium just for the branding, but I took the leap based on other reviews - I'm hoping the powder lasts long enough to make it worth it.

I'd never used hair powder before until a barber styled my hair with some. Due to the positive reviews for this hair powder I thought I'd give it a try. Unfortunately this was nothing like the powder my barber used. This powder dried my hair out, was difficult to wash and once washed out my hair felt damaged for a number of days. It has gone straight in the bin as not for me. I do have quite thick short hair so maybe it wasn't compatible.

I’ve used a lot of different hair products over the years, but this Slick Gorilla Texture Powder + Texture Comb combo might honestly be one of the best styling upgrades I’ve bought. I originally grabbed it just to see what the hype was about, and now I’m using it pretty much every day. First off, the texture powder itself is brilliant. Super lightweight, completely matte, and gives instant lift without making your hair look dusty or feel sticky. Some powders leave that weird chalky feel or make your hair clump together, but this one gives clean, natural-looking volume that you can still run your hands through. It actually feels like your hair, just… better. The hold is surprisingly strong for a powder, too. I can do a messy quiff or textured crop in the morning, go to work, the gym, whatever – and it still keeps shape throughout the day. The best part is that you can refresh it just by ruffling your hair with your fingers. No need to add more product unless you want extra height. Now, the surprise hero of the set is the texture comb. I wasn’t expecting much from it, but the wide teeth make a huge difference when you’re trying to build volume. It lifts the roots so easily without pulling or snagging, and it spreads the powder evenly so you don’t get dense patches. It’s also made from strong carbon, so it doesn’t bend or warp like cheap plastic combs. Actually feels like something a barber would use. One thing I really appreciate is how clean and non-greasy everything feels. No shine, no residue on your hands, no heavy build-up even after a couple of days. It’s the type of product you can throw in quickly if you’re rushing out the door and still have your hair looking styled but natural. Even on days when I don’t want a lot of hold, a tiny bit of the powder fluffed through the roots gives my hair shape without looking overdone. And because a little goes a long way, the bottle is going to last ages. Overall: If you want effortless volume, texture, and all-day hold without that shiny, greasy product look, this combo is honestly perfect. The powder works incredibly well on its own, but paired with the comb it takes the result to another level. Easily one of the best styling purchases I’ve made.
