Dead quiet with 850ma
I'm completely anal about any kind of noise whether I be playing or not. I have come to understand that some pedals have noise inherent within them when you're playing that you can hear in the lower noise floor and some other pedals are just loud even when you're not playing. In general all TC electronic pedals are dead quiet but I did have a problem with this one. It was only slight but when the rest of my rig is completely silent I noticed it and switched the power from a 9 volt 100ma to a 9v 850ma. Small noise gone completly. If you're like me and go direct into the mixing board without a cab simulator (Im crazy ;) you will hear every little thing about the pedal. I'll say it again, TC Electronics pedals are dead quiet. Chase Bliss for instance is not at all. Electro-harmonix it's kind of hit and miss, all source audio is dead quiet and so is strymon. EarthQuaker devices on the other hand are louder. If you're like me and looking for quiet tone I just saved you about 2 years cuz that's what it took me to find out what I just wrote above. Merry Christmas 🎄

It has it's purpose, but not necessarily for everyone.
I have an Electro Harmonix Pulsar tremolo that I bought used. I bought this TC pedal thinking I would replace the Pulsar. I have subsequently come to understand the difference between tremolo and vibrato. My Pulsar varies the volume and preserves the pitch. It is a great pedal and I will not take it off my board - in fact it is on much of the time. The Shaker is a vibrato device and varies the pitch predominantly. It sounds very different from tremolo. (Think of the misnamed "tremolo bar" on your Strat). It can also sound annoying and "off" if not used properly, especially on my Takamine acoustic/electric. (The Pulsar works real well with this guitar, however.) The shaker does sound pretty cool with a Fender Tele or Strat or any other electric. It sounds good with overdrive too. It has a very useful "latch" position on the toggle switch, which allows me to hit the vibrato for a momentary effect. Very nice. It also has the toneprint setting which I am still exploring. At first I was not going to keep it after listening through the Takamine. But after I tried the overdriven Tele I changed my mind. The latch position also changed my mind. It has a purpose on my board, but is not something you keep on all the time.

Great Sounding but a Battery murderer
Great as far as getting the sounds I wanted but it murdered the 1st battery in one day when I left a cord plugged into it even though the effect was off. I thought ok, just can't leave cords in it period. But battery 2 died during the 2nd tune at a recent practice session with no prior use. I had put it in a couple days earlier. This battery had not been used at all, no cords were in the pedal, and the light was not on. Adding the hassle of taking the battery out everytime i use it is not ideal. Not sure if this is common or its a lemon.

broken or not, that is the queston
I bought this based on the fact that I have the tc electronics delay pedal, which is an excellent pedal with a wide variety of available sounds and has become a valuable addition to my arsenal of effects. When I plugged the Shaker in I could not work out if the effect range was extremely subtle or the pedal was defective. I wanted a pedal with a range of tremolo and vibrato sounds, this seems to be only vibrato...no tremolo. The rise time and tone knobs made no discernible difference to the output effect. The fact that there was no instruction leaflet in the package (which I found a little strange coming from tc electronics) I was unable to get an idea of what range of effect the pedal should have.I rarely buy instruments or effects online and now I remember why. I think this is the first item I've ever returned to Amazon. I now have a tremolo pedal by Hardwire which certainly fills all the requirements I had when I ordered the Shaker.

It works as expected and have a small standard size of most TC pedals, very compact compared to the likes of boutique pedals like Wampler. It delivers what I need and nothing extra to get the 5 stars.

TRuly clean and fluid sound
This little box seemed a little pricey, but I knew that TC makes great pitch/delay related effects. And I was not wrong. The unit does not change the sound of your instrument (other than as it is intended), nor does it change the level. Very clean. The effects are really fluid sounding and rick, especially when combined with a delay. I never write reviews on here, but I was so impressed by it that I've broken down and done so.

Lots of vibrato fun.
It's from TC and does more than what it shows. The TonePrint app will be your friend with this. Requires a power supply because it is to small for a battery.

A fantastic piece of kit.
This is a fantastic piece of kit which I am now using with my electric viola it gives superb and variable vibrato. The price was good and I have nothing but praise for it.

Bargain of the year.
Modulation is my favorite effect.Vibrato is often neglected but can be a great effect. I love TC pedal, particularly because they have toneprint.I wasnt actually looking for this pedal but it usually retails for around $200 but when I saw this advertised at $80 it was a no brainer and I bought it.It has lots of very usable sounds, and of course toneprint.Love it
