These are excellent. Small and very bright & ample enough to light a room in a power cut and they use 3 AA batteries which last a surprisingly long time. I bought 4 for myself for emergency use and they are miles better than a torch and far safer than candles. I took advantage of these being available on Prime day and sent for another 12 to give away as Christmas presents. For camping they would fill a tent or touring caravan with light as bright as day but they also have 2 other setting for a more mellow light.

I ordered these primarily for camping, thinking they were the size of the old Coleman propane canister lantern I used to lug around. Obviously had I read the specs I would've seen that they are less than 6 inches tall. That said they are great for area lighting with 360° illumination and they are INCREDIBLY bright for the size. I have had these for four years with the same batteries in them. They are not used constantly, but in a five day power failure they got lots of use and they just don't seem to wear out. They're so bright that most of the time I use them on the lowest illumination setting. They are splashproof, water resistant, incredibly compact and they are stashed in various places around the house ready for the next power failure. One small niggle? 360° illumination means they're not really good as a flashlight because the light is just as bright in your eyes as it is forward/downward on your path. I jury rigged an aluminum foil reflector on the back of one that works well enough to focus the light forward and not in my eyes. Recommended.

Good size, easy to use but one lantern doesnt work at all.
