Worth every single dollar!
I’m sure that Appetite for Destruction doesn’t need an introduction. It’s one of the best and biggest selling albums of all time, and for good reason. And fans of the classic GN’R will love this entire set! Especially after the dissappointment that was Chinese Democracy almost 10 years earlier. In addition to the classic album digitally remastered, you get a BluRay disc of the album plus all of it’s music videos, an additional 3 CD’s of unreleased material (save for the three tracks from GN’R Lies in the set), and a ton of great memorabilia to go with it! The stuff on the 4th disc (titled “1986 Sound City Session N’ More” in this set) in particular is great. You get the brand new single, Shadow Of Your Love, which has been a great success so far, plus a ton of other great tracks. Noteable highlights include but are not limited to:November Rain (Piano Version)Jumpin’ Jack Flash (Acoustic Version)Move To The City (1988 Acoustic Version)Some of the stuff from the other 3 discs is also on the BluRay that comes with the set. And the BluRay audio sounds excellent. While listening to the album on there, you get the option to show visuals for each song, and it shows a little screen saver thingie that is different for each one, but it’s nothing really to write home about. But other than that, everything else makes this set worth every dollar. I’m assuming most of you reading this probably cannot save up enough to afford “Locked N’ Loaded: The Big F’n Box” since it is $1,000, but if you are a GN’R fan and can find the patience (pun intended) to save up $125 to get this one, then I cannot recommend it enough. And this is coming from somebody who normally wouldn’t save up that much money to get one of these “Super Deluxe” box sets of certain albums.

It's like listening to this album for the first time all over again!
It's excellent! Flat out, it's great! The remaster of Appetite is incredible. This is my favorite album ever, and I've listened to it hundreds upon hundreds of times over the years., and it's like hearing it for the first time all over again with this remaster. I keep finding all sorts of stuff I never heard before, and the other new and unreleased stuff is wonderful. You can almost picture them in Sound City playing these. Can't wait to get into the 5.1 bluray disc! The extra little things they threw in like posters and lithos were nice, but nothing over the top. It's definitely a better value than the big box set. The book that comes with it is pretty neat too, it honestly feels like an exhibition you'd see at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. My only complaint is the outer packaging, sleeve and book cover, look nothing like the photos you see online when you buy it. The embossing/debossing is terrible and barely there. If you squint real hard with a spotlight on it, you can sorta maybe see a hint of a logo. It's not enough to make me take it down a star, but it is frustrating when you see how great everything else and realize how much you paid for this for anything to feel cheap or poorly done, and that piece of the set definitely feels cheap. It's not a huge deal though because the rest is just so good. Can't recommend it enough!

They have never sounded this good!
The remaster of the original twelve tracks is faithful to the original intent. The bass and rhythm guitar are not drowned out by the lead. The drum track is clear and hard hitting. A hard hitting rock and roll experience. The second disc is really just recycled officially released music without much change to my ears. The third and fourth disc is what really brings this set alive. Most of thesetracks on discs three and four are known to diehard fans and have been circulating since the 80's. However, they have never sounded this good. They are raw, not polished up album tracks. They show the band rehearsing and recording in the studio. Although some of the tunes are easily forgettable but the raw emotion in both November Rain versions is undeniable. Move to the City in 1986 really showcases how personally and professionally close these guys were back then. The sped up, punk inspired versions of the Rolling Stones' Jumping Jack Flash and Elvis' Heartbreak Hotel will push you back in your seat if you have never heard them before. Overall, if you love the Gunners, The Super Deluxe is the versin to get. All the flyers are cool for a minute. The book adds insight into the individual songs giving you a glimpse into not only the band members but the record label at the time with lots of notes about everything in this box. Is the price worth it? Only if you want to expereince something new and unpolished from GN'R. If you only like the main catalog of them, pick up the two CD deluxe to grab the remasted album with a few bonus tracks sprinkled in. However, only this set contains the blu-ray. The 5.1 remastering is superb. If you have a proper set up, the sound field will blow you away. We all know how surround is for movies. Apply a good surround mix to music and it sounds like you are dead center of the recording of the album. Superb!

A quality remaster with lots of great bonuses
There isn't much to say except why did it take so long to release this? Seminal album remastered with lots of great bonus tracks and goodies. You cannot be a fan and not appreciate this. That said, it's pricey, which I suspect, is why the label released a non-bonus original version without any fluff. Is the fluff worth it? Yout bet it is. It makes you wonder why more rock and metal albums haven't been remastered by the label or even Rock Candy (a fine remastering label in itself). What are these record companies waiting for? Their fanbase who is eager for these remasters are waiting until their demographic to die? We're already in our late 40's, 50's and 60's. Are you listening record companies? Up the ante and get some multi-channel releases out, too (SACD, SACD Hybrid, DVD Audio). Anyway, buy it if you are a fan.

Surround sound excellence
Very nice product. A must for GNR fans.I ordered particularly for the surround sound disc and let me say that the mastering and surround sound mix is nothing short of excellent on my high end audio system. Must buy for audio enthusiasts.
