This product of organic star anise is the best I have ever purchased. It is fresh, has great aroma and taste. Perfect for use as is or for grinding. Not all star anise products are of this quality.

I usually buy my spices from the grocery. An a small 2 or 3 ounce pouch size of Star Anise will cost me more than 10 dollars, I usually wait for them to go on sale. The good folks at Frontier Co-op sent me a pound bag, that's 453g, 16oz., of the most fragrant star anise I could have hoped for, not broken pieces but large, whole star anise. They have surpassed my expectations. They are going to be in my Oatmeal spice cookies, Gingerbread cookies and cakes, German spice cookies, sweet spice blend, potpourri and they will appear in some savory dishes as well. The aroma will transport you to exotic places. I can't wait to start cooking.
