Honeywell Replacement HEPA Filter for Honeywell DA-5018E Air Purifier

The Honeywell HEPA filter range is easily the best on the domestic market, and if you own a 5018 machine like I do, this is the replacement main filter that you'll need. Unlike many so-called 'HEPA' filters, which in reality are not (Trading Standards enforcement failure!) this one is a true HEPA unit, so it actually will remove particles right down to a tiny 0.3 micron which includes pollen and mould spores, and most bacteria, quite apart from the usual household dust. To put that into perspective, a standard sheet of 80g A4 paper is about 100 microns thick, so we are talking 330 times smaller than paper-thin. It's the stuff you can't even see you would otherwise be breathing in!The name HEPA is an acronym for High Efficiency Particulate Air, and this type of filter was originally developed in the US for military use filtering out radioactive particles after a nuclear incident. Similar filters are also used in clean rooms and operating theatres, so this is a serious filter! The one supplied with your machine will last around two years, depending on how dusty the environment is of course. I recommend you keep your carbon pre-filters clean and up to date for maximum life span.Sadly the Honeywell circular air filter machines themselves are no longer made, which is a huge shame because they knock the entire competition into a cocked hat. Everything else looks flimsy and under-performs when compared, including the newer slim Honeywell HEPA range with their flat filters. It's a shame that Honeywell chose modern looks and compactness over performance and efficiency, but hey, if the public wants style over substance, that's what companies will sell us...

I have used many different hepa filters, from various makers, this honeywell hepa filter has lasted the longest, and has worked better than the others. It is more expensive, but considerably more effective, and long lasting.I remains my preferred hepa filter (I also like the 5018 machine that is is used in).

Arrived super quick ( less than 24hours). The unit I had purchased second hand had a faint smell of tobacco when I turned it on. The new filter has meant the smell has completely gone. A brillinat product. Revived my Honeywell Air purifier just right !!
