A must have tool when you really need it.
I had a couple of these years ago and they were quite useful. I had to drill a hole into a palm log that I had made into a decorative flower pot and didn't have a long enough big drill. This is a good quality well finished tool. I had no problem drilling a 7/8" diameter hole with a spade bit that was over a foot deep. The set screws held the bit in perfectly and the hole (s) were drilled in a minimal amount of time. I'll be buying another one of these to extend the drill another foot for taller tiki potsTip 1: The part that holds the bit is about 1/2" in diameter, so a larger bit will be necessary to accommodate it if you are drilling a deep hole and not just using it to get to a tough to reach spot.Tip 2: The allen wrench (provided) is easy to lose. I put a rare earth magnet on a spade bit in my drill index and it holds the wrench securely when not in use. See last photo.

Works OK buts does have a little wobble to it
Good product, not the best nor the most expensive either. Works OK but does have a little wobble to it due to the length I suspect. You just need to help it by holding it a little to minimize the wobble. Bits do secure properly and hold tight. Over all good value.

Might be OK with 1/4" hex bits, but not for 1/4" circular bits.
I purchased this product for use with a 1/4" shank circular bit. This was the only extension I could find with a circular bit receptacle instead of a hex receptacle. Maybe a bad assumption on my part that an extension with a circular end would work with circular bits? If this extension is designed to work with 1/4" hex bits why is the receptacle circular instead of hex like the others available? I did not try this product with hex bits, only circular. If I needed an extension for a hex bit I think I'd buy one with a hex head instead. I measured the inside diameter of this extension at 0.292", much to large to work properly with a 0.250" circular bit. 1/4" hex bits with a point to point distance of 0.278" might be OK, but again I didn't try hex bits with this extension. This extension worked OK with the 0.250 file bits I used despite the fact the bits turned in an oval instead of a circle. Trying to drill holes with a circular bit would have been a disaster, or at least resulted in a larger hole than expected. Lastly, the allen set screws on the receptacle end failed after about ten tighten/untighten cycles. Luckily I was able to back the set screws out with a Torx bit after the screw head stripped out and were unusable with an allen wrench. I will need to purchase new set of set screws before I use this product again.

Works for me
I needed to drill some holes in the bottom of a filled wine barrel planter that didn't have large enough holes in the bottom and were clogging up. I ordered this extension and it was long enough to do the job. I did have some trouble trying to get it seated straight in the drill. I never got it 100% but it was close. I was able to do the job quickly even with the slight wobble.

Very good value
I needed to bore through triple 2x4 top plates and only had regular length wood spade bits. This extension is easy to set up and is made of high quality material which means the bit doesn't flex about while starting the hole. You can't drill a hole smaller than the barrel end that holds the bit, but, otherwise, it effectively multiplies the number of 1/4 inch bits you already own.

buy this
A quality extension. I use this in commercial construction. I locked a hole saw in a metal stud and the pilot bit broke but the extension was not damaged, high quality steel was obviously used in its manufacturing.

Not a standard bit holder, requires hex key
This extender is not what most would expect. The part that holds the bit is completely round and requires an allen key (included) to secure the bit. This must be done every time you change a bit. Most people would probably assume, myself included, that this is a standard bit holder in the familiar hex shape that holds the bit by magnet or simply being a snug fit but this is not the case. I would never intentionally purchase this type of bit holder and while it does extend your reach as advertised I only use it if I have no alternative at hand.

Still my go to for super tight locations
I bought this a few good years ago and by now I have many other "solutions" to get to hard to reach spots but I tell you something if I can get this thing there (it is quite long) this will ALWAYS be my go to solution - this is simply working out great! I taped the tiny allen wrench to it and I can't be happier.
