As good as advertised. Small, and works.
I wear hearing aids and do my best to take good care of them. I've had an old Store & Dry for years and liked it a lot, but it was getting old. It was too large to take on vacation so I had to leave it home, and my hearing aids untreated. Not a good thing. I did a lot of research on the newer style hearing aid dryers and even discussed them with my audiologist. I finally settled on the Serene Renew. I've had it for a couple of months and know it was a good decision. It is small and packs easily into a suit case. The UV lights, which the Store and Dry had too, keep the ear pieces clean and sanitary. The three humidity settings are a real plus. In the Summer, when the humidity in Michigan is high, I can be sure the aids are getting proper drying time on high. For normal humidity the medium setting is fine, and during very dry weather, or in the Winter when the humidity is low, the low setting works. The instructions say to use the UV lights to "freshen" hearing aids from time to time. My audiologist suggested that UV light is excellent for sanitation, does no damage anything, and that I use them every night. I do that. I think it's a smart thing to do There is a battery tester, but to be very honest, I don't think it is very accurate. I have checked my batteries in the morning and had them go dead that afternoon. My batteries usually last about 15 days, so instead of testing, I just change them. Works for me. Some reviews mentioned the dryer got very hot when on. It does get warm, but according to my audiologist, who also repairs hearing aids, the heat is not nearly enough to do damage. She said not to worry about it... so I don't. It really doesn't get all that hot anyway. This hearing aid dryer is exactly what I was looking for. It takes up very little room on my dresser, does a good job of drying and sanitizing my hearing aids, packs well in a suit case, and even looks nice. What else could you ever ask for?

ReNew Hearing Aid Dryer...
I purchased this hearing aid dryer for my 9yr old daughter's BTE hearing aids because she has had chronic ear infections since being diagnosed with hearing loss and wearing hearing aids. I had no idea this kind of product was available for in home use. It arrived today and I used it for the first time- it worked perfectly! I love the magnet that holds the batteries, its a very convenient place to put them while the aids are inside the dryer. I also loved the battery tester, it showed her batteries as being fully charged (which I knew), but wanted to check that it would register correctly and it did! I was nervous about this purchase because she has ear molds and I wasn't sure they would be compatible with the dryer, I called her audiologist and they would only advise me to purchase the dryer they sell (which is more expensive than this one). I placed my order for this dryer and when the package arrived today I called Serene Innovations (their phone number was right on the box) to speak with them about my concerns. I explained being nervous about causing damage to her hearing aids that were $3,000 each. Having read many reviews I learned that someone had tested the temperature of the hearing aid dryer to be as high as 129 degrees Fahrenheit, the question for me was, could this temperature damage the ear molds and what is the highest temperature the machine could go to? I was very impressed with the customer service. When I spoke to the lady who answered my call, she was very understanding about my concerns. When asked if their dryer was safe for BTE hearing aids with ear molds and what the highest temperature of this machine is, she placed me on hold to go speak to an engineer of the product. She came back to the phone and informed me that it was safe for all hearing aids and that it reached up to 40 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit). The things I really loved about their customer service is that a real, live person answered the phone- a rarity nowadays. Also she was very courteous in dealing with a nervous mom whose child is fairly new to the world of hearing aids. And she actually spoke to the engineer? I was impressed that she had easy access to the designer of the product. And in the end, my child's hearing aids came out of the dryer in perfect condition. I'm sure that most people are not as obsessive as I am, but we paid for these out of pocket- insurance didn't cover a dime- so I can't afford to have them damaged in any way. I also bought sanitizing wipes that I cleaned them with first and then placed them in the dryer. I'm looking forward to a future with less ear infections, will update in a few months.

BEST DEHUMIDIFIER FOR ME!!!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this hearing aid dehumidifier. I had the old huge Dry and store dehumidifier for my hearing aids and from the day I got it, I had to keep opening and shutting the door to even get it to work for me. The dessicant blocks which I had to buy for it were another nuisance to keep stocked up on and change. Everynight I would be opening and closing the drawer on it to even get it up started which was annoying. Finally I was ready to replace it and went online and found this RENEW box and cannot say enough good about it. NO bothersome drawer to worry about making proper connections and no dessicant material. It uses a UV light and works beautifully with three different settings on it which are timed and accurate. There is even a small battery checker on it. It is very small and so much easier and less bothersome to use. I am just delighted with this and so wish I had found this sooner. My old box was over $ 100 when I bought it over 10 years ago and this one is a little more than half the price and fits on my night stand so much better. I can't say enough good about this product. I have not had it long enough to evaluate it on its longevity, but from the other reviews I am confident it will hold up. Already it has surpassed the old one and just another little annoyance removed from bedtime.

So far, it's looking good!
I have been wearing hearing aids since my early 30's and now, with it being almost 30 years later, I've been through a number of aids. The drier I used was like many people used - the desiccant device that one periodically heats in an oven. I thought it was about time to try something new, especially now that I am getting new digital aids. I had heard about the electric driers but thought they were kind of pricey from my original audiologist (who just retired). I found the Serene model on Amazon and the features, reviews, and price were right on the mark. I actually received the drier before my new aids were ready. I have had the new aids and this drier for about 1-1/2 weeks so I don't have a great deal of experience with either. I will say it is very easy to use, appears to be a solid, well-built device, and operates as designed. There are a couple of features which are nice but I probably will never use them. That is, there is a battery magnet to hold the batteries should you wish to remove these from your aids while they are in the drier. I see no point in this as opening the battery case is what is needed to turn off my aids. Perhaps, some other aids need this. The other feature is the battery tester. Aside from not having the aids work being a pretty good indicator a battery change is needed, my aids actually talk to me and tell me I have a "low battery." So, I don't see much use for that feature, either. I checked with my new audiologist and mentioned that I purchased the Serene drier. She gave it high marks and told me they sell the same unit at her practice (although she did not mention the price). I think that's a pretty good recommendation. Now, I will say for traveling, I do keep the standard desiccant container available. At home, I use the drier and UV light on a nightly basis. I would suggest cleaning the aids before putting them in the unit. In that way, they are ready to go the next morning and also would be completely dry from any aid cleaning cloth you might use. In a nutshell, I like the unit and I believe it will help keep my new aids working longer. I'm very pleased with the unit and its performance.

Very good dryer travels well
I like the compact size and recently took this dryer with me on a cruise. It does the job and dries out the aids very well. Also, I am very happy to avoid paying for the desiccant bricks used in my previous dryer. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I do not like the "on" lights when operating and the UV light (an intense blue) as these bounce off my bedroom walls at night even though the walls are a dark beige. I plan to drill a hole in the back of my bedside table so I can put the dryer inside a drawer to avoid the bright "night light" effect. The price is reasonable and I do recommend the dryer.

Saved them !!
I have been wearing hearing aids for 15 years. Every pair seems to cost more than the last. I have a newer pair and an older pair. The older pair made it through a wash cycle, as I took them out while mowing my lawn and forgot they were in my pocket. My audiologist couldn't save them and ReSound would replace the battery and guts for $575 total. But, my newer pair made it to the shower. A few drops got onto the right one and I could swear I heard sizzling. Quickly got out of the shower and put them into the case, where I keep 2 tabs of dessicant from pills. I ordered this dehumidifier with black light sanitizing. The dehumidifier arrived in 2 days. I put the hearing aids in for a 4-hour cycle. When the cycle was done, I put them in and they worked. I'm not sure if the water hit a microphone, as it does sound different, but the hearing aids are salvagable until seeing my audiologist in Dec. 2024. Great product, wish I had known about these sooner. The cautionary tale here: Remember to take the hearing aids out when near water or working outside in heat and risking them getting hit with sweat !

So relieved
I always worried about my hearing aids being clean and sanitized. This is so easy to use. I feel so much better now and relived. Never knew these cleaners existed.

Well-designed dry box with ux light, too
I purchased this dry box for my dad to use with his hearing aids. This is the first dry box either of us has used as the VA does not apparently recommend them on a regular basis. While I don't have a way to objectively measure the performance of the dry box, its thoughtful design has impressed both of us -- enough that dad is actually using the thing, which is win enough for me! The included instructions are clearly written in type that is large enough to read without getting out the magnifying glass. For joy! Here are some other things that I found notable about this dry box: * The interior compartment is large and requires no finesse. Set your hearing aids in anywhere * Dry hearing aids with battery compartment open and batteries in -- or remove batteries * There is a magnetic panel on the upper right to store removed batteries * The integrated battery tester has an easy to read display * The integrated battery tester does not require a precise fitting of the battery -- easy even with my arthritis * Simple to use: choose low, regular, and high humidity and leave that setting there * Just two main buttons -- UV light (press to start one-hour cycle) and Start (to start drying) Why I Chose Electronic v. Chemical Dry Box (Skip this if you already have decided -- I had a lot to learn!) I chose this electronic dry box instead of one that uses a chemical drying element after a lot of research and consideration of my dad's lifestyle. Dad is not one to fuss with details -- or notice things like the chemical dry box needing a replacement dry bar. And although the boxes that didn't require power were cheaper at the outset, depending on how many replacements they would need, whatever we would save would quickly be spent. Finally, in the case of this particular dry box, there is that one hour UV light cycle. UV light is supposed to kill fungus (among other things) and that is the infection that took us back to the ENT for the zillionth time anyway. While I don't know about the ins and outs of this particular kind of UV light, I figure it can't hurt. If off-grid living is important to you, a dry box that isn't powered might be a better choice. The AC adapter on the Serene box is quite small, but that doesn't help you much if you're, say, camping in an undeveloped area! At this point, there are only two things I would improve about the Serene air dry box. I like that the cover of the box is easy to open, but it is almost too easy to open. A slightly tighter fit would feel more secure in the suitcase and such. Second, it would be fantastic to find a place to stash a battery remover stick. With larger hands these do help so much in removing the batteries, but my dad will rarely go to the trouble of grabbing one. If it was right there in front of him in the dry box, he might. Do I recommend this item? Yes. So far we have had no problems with this unit, and it has exceeded our expectations. Is it giftable? Hmm. You know, why not? If someone really needed this, I think it would be welcome.
