This CO sniffer works great. I originally bought this to find a CO leak in my RV (the CO alarm went off numerous times). I found the CO leak was caused by my propane water heater. After pinpointing the leak with the detector, I was able to easily fix the problem. The detector is super easy to use and accurate! The bonus is that this detector can be left on and act as a CO monitor if needed.

This device is incredibly easy to use and quite literally may have saved our lives. We had an intermittent carbon monoxide (CO) leak that was extremely difficult to locate. CO levels would read normal most of the day, then our detectors would randomly go off. We initially assumed the detectors were faulty or expired and replaced all of them, only to have the new ones do the same thing. We called the fire department. At the time they arrived, CO levels in our basement and laundry room read zero, but I noticed they were using a handheld device similar to this one. I immediately ordered this detector, and within 24 hours we found the source of the problem. The issue turned out to be cracked PVC venting pipe attached to our relatively new tankless water heater. CO levels only spiked when hot water was running in the house. At which point levels reached as high as 1,800 ppm, according to the installer. The vent runs out in our laundry room, meaning I had been intermittently exposed to high levels of CO for some time. I hadn’t been feeling well for a while and didn’t know why, until now. This device helped us pinpoint the exact source of the leak when standard CO detectors could not. I strongly recommend having both properly installed CO alarms and a portable carbon monoxide detector like this one. It’s an absolute must-have for home safety.

The detector works, but in testing it by putting it close to my car muffler with engine running, the detected level remains for a very long time (several minutes), even after you remove the detector from the source of the CO. Perhaps this is normal behavior for this type of detector, but it makes moving it around quickly to detect CO in several different places in a short time impossible. Also, the time and date cannot be set. The displayed date was off by one day, and the time was off by several hours, and will not change no matter how many times I try to set them properly. The time and date setting function is very simple and straightforward, it just doesn't work.

Really works well. I used it to measure Furnace exhaust, fireplace exhaust and even auto exhaust and the results were as expected, so it is reasonably accurate. Easy to use and measures in seconds. Overall, I am happy with purchase.
