Easy and enjoyable to play
I purchased the Guild Surfliner DLX about a week ago and have no regrets. I did a thorough setup as many Asian guitars they don't always come even close to specs and as Guild doesn't offer a setup guide, I set mine up as I would a Stratocaster. Since I was removing the strings to treat the very dry fretboard, it absorbed F1 oil like a sponge I also took the time to polish the frets and check the scale length and adjust the saddles accordingly This is where the 4 stars (would be 4 1/2 stars) comes in. The scale length is 25.5" but the closest I could get to that was 25 9/16". The bridge was installed a little too far from the neck and the high E saddle was adjusted as close to the neck as possible. In the end I was still able to get the guitar in good tune and get the intonation correct and I mean dead on. The rest of the setup, truss rod, string height and pickup height etc. went without issue. I've been playing through a Fender GTX 100, even during break-in this guitar sounds great and it's one of the most comfortable guitar shapes I have played. I highly recommend the Surfliner DLX I don't believe you will be disappointed, you get a lot of bang for your buck.
