FIt and usage review
OK, just received a set of gear , here's MY first impressions on FIT only, (have not used it on a ride yet): I'm 5"11 or so, and 245 lbs , maybe 47/48 size in chest Typical motorcycle gear I would need to get an XXL or higher in order to fit me (think RevIt brand) , the XL jacket size is a PERFECT fit for me. Also, I would wear a pant size typically of 38/40 length x 30 inseam.. the size 38 MSR pant fits VERY well, and i swear feels almost tailored to fit me . Both still fit with base and midlayers underneath. The pants I could see getting a bit too tight IF i put on a few extra lbs, but the range of motion on these things is EXCELLENT! I do feel that tightness in the elbows a bit, BUT its not that noticeable for me, and honestly, if someone else hadn't pointed it out, i might not have even noticed it.. The material feels very tough, and that superfabric feels bulletproof... They seem like gear that will last me a LONG time, BUT time will tell The one question I have regarding the eVent fabric, is they say to 'wash it often' .. what is often? once a month, after every ride, twice a year? I'd be curious to find that out , otherwise by far, hands down, the burliest riding gear I've ever owned.. EDIT: ok, after using on a couple large rides, i do notice that the neck opening seems a lot larger then it needs to be.. prob better a bit larger than too small, but im curious how that handles waterproofing, and cold temps.. maybe a neck gaiter is all i need to add? we'll see On a recent ride, i got smacked by a bee on my neck going about 40 mph.. got stung pretty bad, feel like the neck is a bit too exposed,. THe isuse with the neck drawstring, when you tighten it, is that when it tightens, it lays down , making the opening smaller, but maybe even exposing more of your neck itself.. Still have yet to take it through a rain storm, so cant attest to the water proofing just yet, but no issues in water crossings. Vents: incredible. they work so good, have never had a jacket that the vents work that well on.. not a replacement for my mesh jacket on super hot days, but def been using it in much warmer weather than i had anticipated 2025 update :: Getting some normal wear and tear , still fits very well… had a zipper get stuck in the pants pockets , but was able to free it . Still havnt worn it Ina downpour , so still can’t speak to its full water proofing. For reference, I have the version 1 of this suit. loving it still , the vents are still amazing. I recently wore only a long sleeve shirt / base layer with the jacket , on a cooler day than anticipated.. zipped up the jacket and did well at keeping me warm , still wish neck was smaller opening and taller

Great Value for an ADV/Touring Jacket
Great jacket Fits good for us Americans with "Dad Bods". Cons: Stiff Collar, Heavy, Stiff (at first). Pro's: Waterproof, Breathable, Rugged Feeling and Comfortable despite the initial stifness. Wore in 30 degree (fahrenheit) temps with heated gear and wind liner. Very versatile for temperature ranges and environmental conditions. Plenty of storage. Good range of motion even with layers. Ordered up a size. Arrived quick.

MSR Xplorer Adv jacket is a winner!
It was time for new Adv riding gear and high-quality waterproof attire was the goal. I went with MSR Xplorer jacket and pants and have been quite pleased. After 3-weeks of frequently rainy riding around the Isle of Man (yes, during TT race week!) and then the north of Scotland, this jacket has more than met my expectations. Quality construction, very useable pockets and vents, and a great fit. I would really have no suggestions for improvement and feel it is a great value when compared to all higher and lower priced products.

Great jacket if your neck is a tree trunk.
This is a really nice jacket, especially considering the price. The neck opening, however, is enormous. I saw other reviews mentioning this, but thought I'd still give it a try. If it weren't for this one flaw (and the reason for 1 star removal) I would've kept it. Otherwise a very well thought out, quality jacket. The search continues....

Quality jacket
Bought XL. I’m 220lb, 5’10” fits well on shoulders and chest. Lower torso is swimming. It doesn’t balloon up and make me feelVents well to 80 degrees. Above that very hot when stopped. Can’t comment on waterproofing yet but have never been wet in it. Long on torso but always unzip up from bottom. Love venting on sleeves. Warm when needed. I ride with vents open on 40 degree rides in the fall mornings in Ohio currently.

sizing is correct
Been looking at MC clothing for some time. Sizing has always been an issue. This jacket fits great and I can fit a mid layer underneath. Remember this is an outside shell. It''s great alone down to high 50's. Layers is the key (which I prefer). Very good airflow and have worn it into the Low 80's comfortably. Updated with CE 2 armor also I rode in heavy rain and the jacket kept me dry. The quality is great! I hear people comparing it to a Klim. I wouldn't know as I wouldn't spend the insane amount of money they want for Klim. But it's a great jacket for the money!

Regret buying
Horrible fit unless you are crazy overweight. I wear XL in Klim, online suggest going up on these. Order XXL shoulders just fit but at least 1' of material in can fold over in waist. They made version 2 far too long. It pushes collar up into your throat. On topic of collar an absolute stupid design. Has velcro to tighten but does nothing if zippered up. Then the tab folded under is rubbing on neck. Shoulder armor flips around every time I put jacket on. Material on inner collar is soft but you can tell it will wear fast especially the inner jacket linner. No where near Klim quality. Anyone who says different has either not owned Klim or paid by Rocky Mountain. Jacket should be priced in low $300s as it is nothing more than a low quality knockoff of Klim.
